I am going to try to write a fiction about a boy growing up with autism, this book will basicly be about his blurred reality. This child will have a vivid imagination and have a hard time distinguishing between real life and his imagination. I plan to switch between first and third person on different chapters. He will basicly go through a lot of misadventures, cumulating in a big final adventure, that will have some big twist to end it. I would like this book to be based on ideas supplied to me through this website, if you have any ideas for misadventures this boy could go through that are just different enough, while still interesting and showing his autism, please post them. Be creative, I know we have a lot of creative people here, show some.

will we get part of the royalties if we help you write it?

^ I agree: As a published writer I can say that for the first couple times around, write what you know, not what you assume to know.

I don't see anything wrong with writing a fictional story, even if they're based somewhat on your own observations. Just as long as you're writing, right? No? Eh.

As for ideas? Well if you want it to be a mix of reality and imagination, why don't you also make it "blurred" for the reader to? I know, it's been done before.

For example, A Beautiful Mind. But hell, lots of things have been done before ^.^

You'd definitely have to give more background information on your characters, setting, etc.

You could turn it into a children's book. That can be creative.

I just posted a story (elsewhere) where the reality is never really set, it makes for interesting writing. Kind of a "It's real. No wait... was it?" thing.
As for your misadventures... I don't really know. That creepy person down the street that everyone avoids is always good. Being able to talk to animals is nice, though that probably crosses into schitzophrenia land.
I give up.

I just realized how many "misadventures" I myself had in my past... I could easily throw some of that into it. Anyways, if I did this, I would want to find a noteworthy organization to actually donate a porion of sales to, which all I can think of right now would be WP... but thats not something I will think about till I actually write the book. As for how I want it to end, I don't know whether I want to kill off my character (I have a bit of an obsession with characters dying), or have some catastrophic event happen because of his confused world.

Start in the middle, write the high point, then add stuff leading up to it, what happend after that, go till you find a place to stop.

Go for hundreds of pages, edit to ten, start over. Learn to keep the content while tossing out words.

With luck your original story will become lost, and the new one will talk to you.
