Well as I've read and heard AS is a child diagnosis (sadly in most professionals views) although as an adult I'm 90ish% that I HAVE AS! So if you have a child who you think has AS LOOK FOR A DIAGNOSIS NOW! It's hard to get someone that deals with adults with AS. :-) I myself find it sad that they only look at it as being a child diagnosed disorder. :-(

i have always thought it was pretty ironic, seeing as many adults who are most in need of help are the least able to afford it.
This goes for AS as well as ADD and other stuff.

I got an assessment for free, and the lady who assessed me said that I could treat that assessment as a diagnosis, so I do because I can't afford not to. I don't have any paperwork to back it up though... :? ...and the informality still leaves me with a shadow of a doubt.

Anywhoo.. before my assessment, I had been planning on seeking assistance through the MHRA, and that might way to go about getting affordable assistance.

They do deal with PDD'S

I think because they are so popular, like ADHD is around $2000 because so many kids get diagnosed or misdiagnosed with it. That's just my theory: the popular the disorder the more they charge.

I dont know why but I all the costs accumulate being so costly. Needing to see psychologists, psychiatrists, medications and insurance dosent cover all of it. A year ago, I feel into a situation where it was mandatory for me to see all those doctors and being on meds. Once it wasnt required, I stopped with everything because nobody was really helping me that much.

I used to have this psych who didnt take insurance but specialized with working with people with my disorder. He insisted that he was good and everything, in the end he didnt help very much and the 200 dollars a session wasnt worth it so I stopped seeing him.

If the age you listed is correct, that is the reason. Anyone over 18 gets f****d over here. 18+ or IQ over 70 = no assistance.

So far I see the situation within the UK, it is true too, with the exception that in cases in which other server mental health condition are involved (clinical depression etc.) a diagnosis is easier to get.
