im not sure if anyone else has posted this, so apologies if so- there was an interview with savant and author Daniel Tammet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Tammet) on the simon mayo (excellent dj) on 5live yestoday- one can either listen again or get it as a pod cast- here's the link- scroll down, or somewhere there is a listen again facility.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/podcasts/mayo/

he was a really nice bloke, not autistic sounding at all (said he learned to be sociable and speak normally like learning a different language), has an aspie brother, spoke about synesthesia, savant-ness, brain function in autistics, languages etc.

his book is on how he thinks other people can develop more savant like understanding of eg- maths, but he also spoke about his synesthesia and reactions to the sound of words, both of which i have/do- so i was more interested in this, than the maths aspect. i am dyscalculate, so tuned out during the maths thing.
well worth a listen, though, QED, rainman was mentioned.

He was on yesterday? I can't believe I missed him (I have a massive crush on him).

Listened to this just now, was very interesting! :)

I recommend it if you have 22 minutes to spare.
