I'm going to Maine to visit my Dad, who I haven't seen in two years. I'm kind of nervous, because it's cold and it's cold. And I might not be able ot come on for the next 11 days! :(

But...I get to see my Dad. :D 11 days!! ! Off to pack now, I leave Sunday morning.

If you're going to be on the coast it won't be that cold, it get's colder inland. Also, December in Maine can be a mixed bag as far as weather is concerned. Two years ago, we got over a foot of snow on December 20, and on the 24, it was close to 60 degrees in Portland. --The really cold weather usually happens in January and February.

Several weeks after the above mentioned Christmas, the temperature range dropped down to high temps of 2 degrees, and low temps of -25 or so, --which isn't exactly normal for coastal Maine.

Average winter temps in Maine are usually in the 15-30 degree range. If you're going to be there for a while, you should be able to acclimate in 2-3 weeks. Best of luck. Also, go to an Amato's and treat yourself to an Italian sandwich and a whoopie pie.

Actually, Maine isn't that bad, unless you go up to The County, or you're in the Mountains, It can get a mite nippy there. --If you want to experience real cold, go to Grand Forks, North Dakota, about this time.
