That is, specifically a program to help those on the spectrum to live and work independently? If so, how is the program structured? What is the staff like and what credentials do they have? What is your experience with such a program?

I come from Connecticut, where there are two programs: Chapel Haven, which is funded by tuition, and the Connecticut Pilot Program for Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders, which is funded by the State. However, the number of clients they serve is very limited. Both of these programs put together do not meet the needs of young adults with ASD in the state, IMO.

I work as a psychiatric rehabilitation assistant in a community based residential program for those who have chronic mental illness. There is one client who has Asperger's Syndrome and I hear that we may be getting another. To better serve the needs of these clients, I believe the agency I work for should provide staff with additional training and tailor some aspects of the program to those on the spectrum. I am looking for ideas on how to do so.

By the way, I believe I am an Aspie myself; I will undergo diagnostic evaluation in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for your responses,
Catwoman
