I just heard on the news that scientists have discovered that serotonin changes locusts from avoiding one another to becoming "sociable" to form swarms. Has anyone read anything about serotonin levels in Autism or AS? Prozac, apparently, changes one's level of serotonin. Has anyone heard of Prozac affecting Autism or AS? One link follows. Many more through Google.

I've noticed that the Walnut, a nut very popular in France and Italy, two countries full of generally sociable and jovial people, is good for improving mood. It's apparently high in an amino acid called tryptophan. Your body needs tryptophan to make serotonin. Recent research suggests low serotonin levels leads to obesity, difficulty sleeping, depression, difficulty concentrating and migraines.

Some days I'll fry about 7 or 8 walnuts in some olive oil. Those days are usually the better ones in terms of how confident I am and upbeat.

Yeah, I have taken Paxil (SSRI) for some months (10 mg per day) and it definitely made me more sociable, I had more random (stupid) things coming out of my mouth spontaneously, I was less agitated around people and in general it made me see them more as friends than enemies.

i have been on them ten year.....just come off to get a sencond dx - but will likely go back on them again.

i have actually had a hugely successful response to them.

others do not.
