1. What's the difference between Autism and Asperger's Syndrome?
2. Why are Rett Syndrome and Childhood Disintegrative Disorder considered to be on the spectrum? They are very different.

most with High Functioning Autism are less likely have an interest in socializing, but even that is a point of contention. officially, people cannot get an asperger's diagnosis if they had any language delay, but one may be quite verbal as an adult but be nonverbal earlier in life and get a diagnosis of HFA

Rett's is a genetic disorder that leads to degeneration of the brain and also leads to symptoms that technically can be placed on the spectrum. It was placed under the ASD umbrella before the genetic cause was found. CDD is similar but as yet no genetic marker has been identified. Retts is actually fatal.

Retts isnt always the 'fatal' or 'profound' type, there's a member on here with retts, she's already had abuse just because she doesn't fit the pattern of another users retts child.

am know little of both, but would think Retts and CDD are on the spectrum because they fit the ASD triad of impairments.
