Yeah... A club that is named "Autism Speaks." I feel I should fight this as an individual on the spectrum... but I don't know what to say. I am actually really angry. I have the e-mail address of the supervisor of it... So if anyone has any ideas tell me please.

What kind of people run the club?

Yes, they could be well-intentioned people who think Autism Speaks really does care, and just need to be informed.

I am probing for that now but the letter said it was for people with autistic relatives... so I am guessing a lot like the group itself

I don't like that "autism speaks" stuff either but don't get too wound up about it, each to there own I always say.
If you really don't agree with them don't have anything to do with them, unless they start to get offensive/too ignorant or if they start being personal with you then say something about it.

I just let people get on with what they want and do my own thing, like I said, each to there own

Do you know other aspie/auties? You could go to the group and put in your two cents and basically give them a realistic viewpoint of what autism actually is, instead of "OMG my three year old brother can't talk yet we're going to have to put him in an INSTITUTION!!1!!"

No... I am the only one I know... I am kind of out though. I am the kind that will answer basically anything you ask me and I feel it is important to not be embarrassed. I am finally making friends at the school and I don't want no dumb club messing it up.

Yeah, I would definitely approach it from the understanding that they don't know why not to support Autism Speaks, and to describe why. This site might be a good resource in the construction of your letter: (http://notautismspeaks.tk/).

Just make sure you're reasonable. Whatever your grievances, explain them so they make sense. Make sure you understand their group before criticizing them. And also, telling them to disband isn't the best approach. If you think their ideas are flawed then point out why and how to fix them.
