I have been in my apartment for about three or so years, and after about the end of the second my neghbors and I started to fued. the issue was that I had played music at about noon every day about 30 minutes EVERY day. I also played at a resonable level games on my computer.
At first they started knocking on the wall while I played a game in the middle of the day at minimum volume with my speakers atached to my head board that placed them close to my ear so it was easy to hear them while I played. I would hear a knock at the lowest level. then I would hear them say out side that HE ONLY CHOOSES GIRL AVITARS FOR HIS GAME CHARACTERS. how could they here when the audio was so low? The other things they would shout out in my window out back in the summer was "you only turn your computer off when your leaving". then whene I looked out the window he would pretend to talk in to his ciggeretts and all because he knew I was watching and say stuff that only people at work knew.

then one day a person from my apartment complex's management came and said some harsh words to me about They are thinking of leaving and it was my fault and said that he would put the maintenance man in that apartment IF THEY LEFT!! !

The if they left part was the thing that gets me IF THEY LEFT. It sounds like an ultimatum.
They didn't stop even during the time when I stopped. I got headphones and they moved out and then one day I came home from work and this guy says hi I am the new maintenance guy YOUR -insert my real name here- arn't you I will be living next to you .
That night when i flipped the switch for my internet hub I heard a bang against the wall Immediately. so I use the paranoid tactic if I say the nastiest things imaginable than if he responds outside and by the level of perceptibility of the noise coming through the wall if he can tell what I am saying than he has some sort of listening device or amplification and is listening and trying to provoke and harass me out of the apartment as per the inclenation of the person who said he would put the maintenance man in the apartment next to mine.

well I know that the apartment on my other side was retaliating for the last because they both were more sociable with each other than i am with anybody. I have the right to say what I wand do what I want IN private and I have taken steps to try and be reasonable but they do not think that way.

I just want them to shut up ignore me leave me alone and not to in the least bother me about anything pertaining to me and my eccentric ways. but I went to pay my rent and the person in the office said O I HEARD YOU ARE MOVING OUT!! ! HELL NO I AM NOT MOVING OUT. WHY WHOULD I BE MOVING OUT? or at least that was what I was thinking. but that was what the maintinance man said. I am tired of being misled lied to taken advantage of misinterpreted and called paraniod for things that by there own actions and statement show to be true.

I want to know what sort of protection I can have against him and the apartment complex thet i can get. like if I get evicted for crap that they pour gasoline of the fire to get the result they attribute to the case they have for there action's.

Life to short to be surrounded by a**holes so just move as far away from people as possible and don't worry about who is right or who is wrong.

but my grandmother lives just the apartment on the other side of him. and my mother is moving in to the apartment next to that. furthermore I refuse to let them win and turn me in to a BETA dog that they laugh at. I want there to be justice for me and not even bothering with it and leaving would be a violation.

Did the apartment manager tell you to change your behavior? If they're asking you do to stuff, you should tell them to send it to you in writing. If it's unlawful, you can challenge them on it. If they don't send you anything in writing and try to evict you, you can always use that as a defense.

Damn, your walls must be paper thin. You shouldn't be able to hear people in the other apartment speaking, or playing computer games on low volume.

Perhaps it would be helpful to know in which country you live. Each country has other ideas about the noise which ones had to accept from a neighbour at which time and day of the week and to which extent. Also: Each country has other proceeding and regulations in respect of rental contracts.

So, if you tell us where you live, perhaps anyone could provide you with some helpful informations.

Also: Noise is regarded in the UK as environmental issue to be dealt within the local councils. They have also significant legal power in all respect of housing (Housing Act 2004). You may contact those too.

If you can afford to, you should move to a newer building, one built to code (with minimum standards of soundproofing) so that you can do what you want without being hassled or bugging anyone. I live in a place with paper thin walls and I'd have moved years ago but can't afford it.

Perhaps you, your mother, and your grandmother could all pool resources and find somewhere easier to live?

Noise is a health issue, so people have the right to complain. However, it's pretty insane when you try to be quiet and it still isn't enough. If you can, move. It'll be better for everyone. If you can't move to a better building, perhaps you could move to a different unit where fewer people would hear you (on a corner? on the lowest floor?).

there is no insulation just sheet rock, and unfortunatly it is the newest of the apartments within 35 miles and cheap for the amenitys provided.
I am a night person cause I work graveyard 10:50pm-7:00am. I have no problem with noise sleeping. even daytime activity from the neighbors music tv and loud a$$ van. I don't really intentionally try a mess with them but if they are listening to me I will protect my self the only way I can.
my preferred defense is liken to the hedgehog be sharp and prickly anybody listening through the wall gets hurt by the content of the words out of my mouth. but that only tick's them off. nothing else I do has any effect.
