I have had interests where I wanted to know as much as possible about something but more recently I've had interests where I prefer to look at the same information over and over.

The latter is more similar to my fondess for certain song lyrics. For the last six months I've been interested in "Please Mr Postman" by the Carpenters. Although I usually listen to most of the song (on repeat) I am particularly interested in only the first nine seconds.

Before that I was interested in "turn around" from "Total Eclispe of the Heart" for about a year.

I have no interest in any technical details, etc for the song but I think about it considerably often (whereas I don't contemplate hand flapping) and repeat it often enough that my wife puts restrictions on it.

Would this be considered a repetitive behaviour or a restricted interest?

To me it seems like a echolalia stim rather than a special interest. :)
