Does anyone else monologue excessively?

I monologue even though I don't like to. I tend to dominate conversation if given the chance, and probably because I don't like silence, but when I am monologuing I am often hoping somebody will interject and have something to say to break my useless monologuing... Hmm.... That makes me sound like a prof almost... Throw in I am way overtired thanks to the wind waking me up 4 hours early today, and I am only just waking up...

How do I break the monologuing and make a conversation more 2 way?

One tactic is to ask questions (then they get to talk), preferably about something the other person has shown some interest or knowledge in.

The word you're looking for is "pedantic."

I think it's better than not knowing what to say. But I do go on and on if someone I want to talk to doesn't answer me. Funny thing is I know they are getting bored, but I still go on.

I only give monologues about special interests to my family and my closest friends, because I know that they don't care if I drone on and on about one specific subject, but I dominate conversation no matter who I'm talking to. I've always just been a very wordy person who has a lot to say. Once you get me talking, it's hard to get me to stop.

i always am the talker in any conversation i have.
i am not really interested in their view points, so i leave no room for them to interject.
my conversational style i am told is a "narrative" one.
i make proclamations and observations, but i am not really interested in what anyone makes of them.
most people get up and go away when they talk to me because i am a solo performer and can not include their instrumental in my song.
