Answer these questions, if you can:

Do you remember EVERYTHING?

What's your first memory?

What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly?

Are there certain things you just cannot remember?

If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful?

Which ones are the most useless?

What's your happiest memory?

Saddest(If it's too traumatizing, skip this one!)?

Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering?

If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?

Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile?

Discuss! What's your memory like?

:D

I'll have to come back to answer the questions. I am supposed to be working. :study:

I, too, have a terrible memory. Long-term, short-term, and everything in between. I have flashes but other than that - I have huge pieces missing. I can't stand sitting around nostalgaizing (???) with friends and family. I always have to nod my head and pretend I know what the hell they are talking about.

On the other hand, I kick ass at trivia. I'm sure there's a name for that kind of memory. Trivial memory? Its not trivial because I am fortunate to be able to use it in my job. (Business writer.)

Do you remember EVERYTHING?
No, I have poor short term memory but amazing semantic memory.

What's your first memory?

Playing with my Donald Duck toy. I was about two and a half, because I also remember that's when Dad had his horrible chicken pox.

What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly?
Temper tantrums, traumatic things (I have PTSD). Music. Textures. Grating sounds. Anything about my special interests (for example, every aspect of Law & Order: Criminal Intent).

Are there certain things you just cannot remember?
Faces! I cannot remember faces for the life of me. Also the layout of shopping malls.

If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful?
The ones from social psychology; basically anything relevant to my research field.

Which ones are the most useless?
Trivia, such as that the head expands and contracts about ten to twelve times a minute due to the flow of cerebral/spinal fluid, that one alternates which nostril they breath primarily through every 90 minutes, that squids have donut shaped brains, and that nutmeg when injected intravenously is incredibly toxic.

What's your happiest memory?

Being proposed to :D

Saddest(If it's too traumatizing, skip this one!)?

Finding out my best friend had committed suicide.

Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering?
It depends on the memory. Usually it's like a video, but if it's particularly traumatic I relive it. Well, any memory with strong emotion attached to it.

If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?
Sometimes.

Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile?

Combination - depends on what I'm remembering. A lot of it is sound-related. But I can remember the textures etc. particularly well.

Quote:
Do you remember EVERYTHING?

Definitely not. My memory is sucky.

Quote:
What's your first memory?

I honestly don't know. My brain is muddy with these things. My concept of time is wonky. So are the bits/order of the things I do remember. Not to mention I can/will randomly remember some thing or another, only to lose said memory soon after.
That said, some of my earlier memories are:
Always carrying around a certain blanket.
My first pet (Goldy the goldfish. Died the day after I got it.)
Blurry memories of speech therapy
Blurry memories of my first "enemy". (I can even remember her name. Scary, that.)
Being harassed/chased/beaten on the way home from elementary school most days.
My first social fu**-up that I was (very) aware of after, and was very embarrassed about it.
Ect.

Quote:
What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly?

Music tends to stick with me.
Things that are very emotional in some way tend to stick with me.

But not always, or not always clearly.

Quote:
Are there certain things you just cannot remember?

In general? Faces, names, dates of things, time, ect.
Quote:
If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful?

Facts? I haven't a clue. 2 + 2 is 4. Life isn't fair. Things like that, I guess.

Quote:
Which ones are the most useless?

I have a lot of seemingly useless junk in my head.

Quote:
What's your happiest memory?

I... don't know. Since I don't recall the feeling of "happy".
I guess it would be back when me and Tifa and Matt (and Aeris) were pals (internet pals, whatever)... back near the beginning of our friendship. Times seemed a bit.... better... back then.
Discovering the internet in general was good.

Quote:
Saddest(If it's too traumatizing, skip this one!)?

I have a lot of sad memories. Various things. Death of pets. Losing most of my faith in humanity. Realizing my gran is... how do I put it.... I don't know. She drinks(ed?) and lies about it, lets leave it at that.
Being bullied. High school. Life in general. Depression is a bi***.

Quote:
Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering?

Neither, really. I don't know how to describe how my memories are. They just... are. They're feelings and words and facts. Sometimes I might get some images.

Quote:
If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?

I don't know. Sometimes, I guess. Hard to tell.

Quote:
Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile?

It's... something.

Do you remember EVERYTHING?
Almost everything.

What's your first memory?
I have a strange memory about me as a baby. Maybe I was 12-15 months old, because my sister hadn't born yet.

What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly?
Those that are related to my interests (samurais, videogames, anime, music, . . .)

Are there certain things you just cannot remember?
Some facts about the ages 0-3 years.
Also, I have problems with people's faces, I can remember it but it takes me a lot of time, but if haven't seen that face in a long time I forgot it. Memorizing viedogame/anime character's faces is easier :P

If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful?
Some facts that NTs can't remember, and then I save the day with my memory :D , and those related to my interests (samurais, videogames, anime, music, . . .)

Which ones are the most useless?
Those things like what clothes I was wearing, or what I did an specific day years ago.

What's your happiest memory?
Dunno, I have some problems with emotions. When I'm happy, I just know I'm really happy and that's all.

Saddest(If it's too traumatizing, skip this one!)?
Same as the happiest memory question. Maybe the saddest memory is my sister's death (1 year ago).

Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering?
I experience memory like a movie.

If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?
Not really. If I had a meltdown in a specific situation, place, event or time, when I'm in a similar scenary I'm worried because maybe I wold have a meltdown again.
Here is a real example. Thanks to my dad, I had a meltdown in a wedding we attended. Now every wedding reminds me my meltdown, and I think it will be the same bad experience.

Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile?
Mainly photographic, but frequently I can relate some smells or sounds with my weirdest memories.

Discuss! What's your memory like?
Dunno, maybe an aspie memory? :P

What's your first memory?
My black nanny bringing me orange juice and I wanted my white mother and white milk. The colors were wrong and it bothered me.

What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly?

My dreams are more vivid and real than my life experience.

Are there certain things you just cannot remember?

My experience of the visual world is incomplete due to some cognitive deficits I have.

If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful?

The ones from psychology

Which ones are the most useless?

trivia

What's your happiest memory?

Lots of times I've been so happy I cried. But then I was let down and disappointed later.

Saddest(If it's too traumatizing, skip this one!)?

skip!

Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering?

I don't experience memory that way.

If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?

Not really.

Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile?

Muddy and tactile. I remember emotions more than anything else.

Discuss! What's your memory like?

Do you remember EVERYTHING?
No, but sometimes it feels that way.
What's your first memory?
I'm not sure, can't pin down times on a lot of them. The NYC blackout of '77, I guess. I remember that pretty well.
What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly?
Any memory that I really let myself travel back into will be vibrant.
Are there certain things you just cannot remember?
My memory seems to be a bit colorblind. If I try to remember (for example) what color shirt my coworker was wearing today.... unless I really noticed it for some reason I jusy can't remember.
If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful?
Depends on the subject. Often I do remember useful stuff though.
Which ones are the most useless?
I have so much useless information in my head that it's not even funny.
What's your happiest memory?
How badly does it suck that I don't have a clue?
Saddest(If it's too traumatizing, skip this one!)?
Ummm... I don't know. Things are sad in different ways, how am I supposed to pick which is worse?
Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering?
More like reliving it, usually. Ocasionally kind of like watching, depends on how deep I am into it.
If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?
No, the whole "losing it" thing pisses me off so bad that thinking about just gives me more reason to never let that happen again.
Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile?
Somewhere in between the two, I think. Okay, probably more to the photographic side.
Discuss! What's your memory like?
Weird. For example, sometimes I'll get a scene in my head, and have to actually try to figure out if it's from a movie or a book. (When I read, I "see" the story unfold in my head. Kind of just like a movie, only not as detailed.)
My family always calls me if they need info or need to remember something, because odds are good I'll remember.

Do you remember EVERYTHING?
I don't remember a lot about what happens to me day-to-day, but I remember lots of what I read. I'm much better at remembering facts. I do say I have a photographic memory, because I can "see" what I've read much better than most. It's not truly eidetic where I remember every word that's been said, but I know my memory abilities are much better than most.

What's your first memory?
I don't know what my absolute first memory is, but I have many memories from when I was 3. That's the earliest age I can remember.

What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly?
Information in textbooks.

Are there certain things you just cannot remember?
The only thing I'm not good at remembering is the exact details of a conversation. I have to relive it over and over in my mind shortly after the conversation took place, if I ever want to relay the conversation to another person.

If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful?
I remember facts the best. The most useful are the ones that are going to be on a test. Plus, memorizing facts about my special interests is useful, because it makes me seem like an "expert" on the subject.

Which ones are the most useless?
Anything that takes up memory space but doesn't have a funciton. Random dates and stuff.

What's your happiest memory?
I don't think I have one memory that sticks out as being the happiest. I have several very good memories.

Saddest(If it's too traumatizing, skip this one!)?
Same situation as the "happiest memory" question.

Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering?
It depends. If it's a more recent memory, I relive it. If it's older, it's like watching a movie. That's common in memories.

If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?
Yes, very much so. If I'm calming down and the memory strikes, I get all upset again.

Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile?
Very, very photographic.

Discuss! What's your memory like?
It's both a gift and a curse. It's a gift, because I don't have to study nearly as much as most people do. I can read a book once and remember everything. I've always been like that. And it entertains me a lot, because I'll randomly get movie/TV quotes in my head, and then, I'll just start seeing the movie/TV show in my head. It literally is like I've got a TV in my head, and it keeps away boredom. However, the downside is before a test. I remember EVERYTHING all at once, and it's sensory overload to an extreme.

My first memory was my first Christmas. Happiest memory: Knowing I am not alone, and there are people out there who do care, family doesn't count on that one, but they have always cared.

Do you remember EVERYTHING?

Nope.

What's your first memory?

Probably not one that I'm going to share here.

What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly?

Facts and information.

Are there certain things you just cannot remember?

Conversations.

If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful?

All of them . . .

Which ones are the most useless?

None, at some point they are all found to be useful.

What's your happiest memory?

Don't have one.

Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering?

No, I experience memory like something you read or as data to be recounted.

If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?

Nope.

Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile?

Varies.

Do you remember EVERYTHING? - I remember trival stuff more than useful stuff.

What's your first memory?
- Being on a high chair and crying because I thought the NBC Peacock was going to attack me.

What certain things do you remember the most vibrantly? - The people I was with the first time I heard a song I like.

Are there certain things you just cannot remember? - Where I put my list of things to remember. :wall:

If you remember facts, which ones seem to be the most useful?
I don't know.

Which ones are the most useless? Stuff I learned in school that have no impact on who I am and how I got to be where I am.

What's your happiest memory? Graduating college. I was 41 when I graduated.

Saddest(If it's too traumatizing, skip this one!)? Finding out I had an older brother who was killed when I was a baby.

Do you experience memory like you're watching a movie, or is it a more like you're completely re-living what you're remembering? - the latter if it is triggered by an old song.

If you have a melt-down, does the memory of what made you do so make you meltdown again?
Not usually. I try not to dwell on it.

Is your memory photographic, or is it more muddy and tactile?
Muddy (a thick mud)

Discuss! What's your memory like?
It is usually triggered by one of my senses.
