I've recently established the Bendigo Young Adult Asperger's Group and the date after I put the webpage online and submitted to be adversited on various search engines. I've made some progress mainly because I'm in touch with four people who deal with Teenagers and Young Adults with ASD.

When I talked to one Dr Tim Godber of the local Latrobe University Campus, when I suggested that I could spread knowledge of the group by calling radio stations. He said that the local ABC (PBS for you Americans) radio station could do a 7 minute interview for their early morning breakfast program. He called the radio station and the interview was arranged.

Also he told me about a woman he knew who had a 18 year old son with AS and I'm planning on making contact with her and her son very soon. I might have my second member of the group very soon :D

I would like to do the same thing here in LA. We have 21 million people in the immediate area. Should be the best place in the world to have an AS support group....

Or is there one, and I'm missing it?

kool. so that means i shud go to the local radio station as well as the placing the add in the local newspaper, posting IRL flyers, makin a website and all that other stuff.
i cant go on the radio tho, i might have to say my actual name, as would i if i asked the local newspaper to interview my group. and they would need my picture. i dont exactly think the "co-founder" of my ADD/AS-group will attract alot of people. hes kinda boring. i think i wud make an awesome radio and newspaper interview, only problem is; i cant, coz im afraid that ppl i have known will start bothering me about it when they hear my name on the radio. coz this is a small town and region ya know.

sorry to rant on but.. so does that mean my name shud be Tromso Ungdoms Asperger ADHD Gruppe? TUADHD. ehem. sorry

I'm being interviewed at around 7:00AM Eastern Australian Summer Time (+11 GMT). There might be a transcript the interview put on ABC Central Victoria Radio's website. If there is not a transcript I will request one from the radio station and put it on this website.

It's been two days since I formed the group and I've been interview on radio now by the local newspaper for it's health section, the story should be published by tomorrow or friday.

So far I have one other member a 18 year old Male whom I'm meeting on friday and another guy called expressing interest in the group as well. The 18 year Male has another couple of males he knows with AS and is trying to reach them.

That would be cool to have an Asperger's support group near me; maybe I could start one here somewhere if I've got the time. Or, maybe there's already one and I don't know about it.
