Ever since I was young ive had ADHD and ODD. Made it through 6th grade then by the time I was in 7th I was in special ed classes for work completion and a little help for science. School was really hard for me most days I just diddn't want to go. When I actually did go I was off in some other world day dreaming. In school and still to this day I dont have many friends. I just dont know how to act when around other people I find it hard to talk cause I dont know what to talk about. After highschool I tried working but failed either I was too slow or off in my fantasy world not paying attention to the work that is at hand. Now that im older I noticed I dont interact well with other people usually wanting everything my way or the highway or that they interfere with my day to day rituals (lol watching tv and playing video games ) for some reason when something little goes wrong I panic and can't let it go. When its too loud too. So I went to a doctor and i was diagnosed with aspergers. Im now 23 and falling through all holes it seems I cant find a place where I fit in. Im wondering if you all think id be able to be on ssi or ssd what ever you call it. and sorry about my typing I havent typed or wrote anything in a long time please forgive me . Also please leave comments.

Yes. though it can be tough. You usually get turned down your first time but you can try again in a few months or something.

I have found that people automatically get turned down their first try. Keep trying. It usually takes three times. Be patient. It could even take a little longer

I am diagnosed with classic autism, Migraine Headaches and seizure disorder. I'm thinking about reapplying. I'm self employed, and business has not been so good. In addition, I am not eligible for any kind of health insurance unless I go on the dole. I too was turned down when I applied. For expedited handling, you might want to consult with an attorney. Many attorneys work for a portion of back pay and do not charge their fees upfront.

I have been trying to get disability since July. I heard it can take 12-18 months before you get it, but you usually get back pay retroactive to when you first filed a claim. Insurance is hard. Insurance companies don't have to insure Asperger's in many states, so many won't.
