I like going to Caffe Nero to take a break from walking through the street. I usually drink in, but the thing is I feel weird and somewhat awkward sitting on my own.

But I dont want to feel ashamed to be in a coffee shop on my own, as some people read books or use the internet via their laptops.

Everyone else feel this way.

I don't feel weird being alone. Then again, I have either my laptop, a sudoku book, or a newspaper.

I hope it won't be the same for you as it was for me, but I felt awkward the first few times I went somewhere on my own, including coffee shops and restaurants, then now it's been so long since I've been anywhere with another human that I don't even notice.

I've noticed that my comfort level depends on what sort of place it is. Like, I feel really awkward if I'm sitting in a place like Starbucks, even with other people, but totally comfortable in a dive bar where everyone kind of finds a corner and sticks to themselves. I don't like having my back to a crowd, either.

I go to Panera's for a sandwich and to surf the internet, by myself if I'm out and need to pass some time between events. There's nothing wrong with that. I can understand your hesitation. However, everyone does it. I'm certainly not going to drive all the way back to my house to do this and then drive all the way back out again to the next event. That's a waste of gas and risk, as well as time lost to the tedious task of vehicle operation.
