I have a question about Aspergers. What are the most obscure and/or silliest symptoms associated with it?

The reason why I ask is because I'm involved with the Autistic Society Players, and I'm trying to write a script about the seven steps of grief. Right now, I'm working on denial.

Silliest? I'd say probably memorizing train schedules. It's so stereotypical that it's just begging to be made fun of. Just be sure you don't hurt somebody's feelings if they are one of the few people who actually do memorize train schedules...

Never thought of that one, but yeah, that will work.

But yeah, the scripts I write are more of an informative sorta thing, with a huge amount of comedy involved.

I figured that we should have a sense of humor about what we have, as well. In a sense, if we can't laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at? Besides our enemies. :P

Any other ideas? Something really super-obscure? Even something that seems completely undocumented would be nice.

If it helps, check out the documentary found on the following weblink:

Most, if not all, of these guys, are people who I am associated with on a semi-regular basis. One of our goals is to provide info-videos on what ASD is all about.

Walking down a sidewalk without stepping on any cracks can be humorous.

Over thinking every social situation to the point of driving myself to silence.

EASY! Speaking in *beeps* and *boops*. I make so many odd noise to communicate that, whenever I've lived with a roommate, they've always found themselves *beeping* and *booping* by the end. My husband also knows that when I say *pewnn!* (laser-blaster-noise), it means that I love him.

Additionally, some days, I only eat peanut butter. (fun example of an AS limited diet)

Watch the movie Mozart and the Whale - that has a lot of material - like:

Freaking out if someone moves your stuff.

Not liking to be touched.

Being hypersensitive to sounds.

Saying WHATEVER is on your mind without understanding the consequences.

Etc.

There's the "literal" thing, too - that classic routine that goes something like:
NT: Why did you do that?
AS: Well, you said "Do that..."

Substitute any appropriate local idiom for "that", of course.

And then there's going into meltdown when something happens that I wasn't expecting, but that's rarely as amusing.

a silly one for me is that i know the sounds of every jet engine on airliners.

if i hear a plane flying over, i know what type of plane it is, and i ignore what even bosses say to me while planes are flying over.

i like to listen to the sounds of the jets, and if it is windy, the sound comes in bursts and waxes and wanes and i can tell how the sound is traveling through the atmosphere.
it overrules what a boss may be saying, and they think i am thinking about what they said when i am really listening to the plane.

i kind of find that funny that i was so obsessed when the plane has passed over, and i smirk broadly and they have no clue where i am coming from. who cares if they know? it is still as funny even if no one else in the universe ever saw it.

i have maybe a problem with inappropriate mirth
