Does anyone else buy lots of the same things and store it? Almost like hoarding?

I have a cupboard full of shampoo and washing liquid, softner etc... I buy it when it is on special offer to save money then arrange it all neatly in rows into a cupboard. My partner finds it amusing and sometimes takes a peek into the cupboard. We never run out of anything which is a good thing mind

 Yup

My partner says I buy "Magic Beans".

A magic bean can be many different things, but they tend to be kitchen utensils. They're all unusual, funky or retro, but highly practical items, ranging in price, but mostly very cheap, £2-10. Our kitchen is coming down with gadgets and gizmos.

My Aspie son does. He was told by his psychiatrist that it is one of the signs of having Asperger's.

What kind of things does your son horde?

I don't buy a lot, but I rarely throw things out when I'm done with them, going so far as to lift text-books from school at the end of a year: I swear I've got a book of Irish history in my room which was written for 13 year olds. I think your stockpiles are more usefull, in case of apocalypse.

He hordes action figures---hundreds of them. And the collecting never ends because they are coming out with new stuff all the time. He has superhero figures, GI Joe figures and football figures. They have taken over his room and also another little room in our house that I gave him to use as an office.

The psychiatrist viewed it as hording because it is becoming a problem financially (he spends money he really doesn't have on them), and space-wise. And also because he is never satisfied.

I hoard books and papers that i've collected from all over and school. That's my vice right there. It used to be about toys ,but nows it's books. I just can't seem to get rid of the stuff even thought i don't have much use for it.

Computer wires, mostly networking cables but I also have a collection of power adapters. I don't even know how I got most of them but I suspect they're leftovers from something someone in my family had.

I have enough candles for 100 people hoarded in my dad's storage locker, for in case there is a disaster and there is no other way to get light and heat.

In the mental hospital I hoarded salt, sugar and pepper packets, plastic utensils, napkins, and nonperishable snacks and mental-hospital toiletries (mine and some someone gave me) for in case someone needed them.

I like collecting books. I've got quite a lot of them now.

I used to do this with dolls and action figures. Then, with comics. These days, I like hoarding lotions.

If they are consumables and you do in fact use them, you are quite normal. In fact, a whole industry of retail stores that sell in bulk quanties, like Costco, have thrived on people like you.

After my grandfather died, we found stockpiles of dozens and dozens of the same objects all over the place....He had something like 20 umbrellas in his car.....30 cans of Off...and boxes and boxes of the same objects kept in storage containers on his property because there was not room in the house.

Yeah...I hoard stuff....all kinds of stuff.

If it is, then my whole family has Asperger's...except for my sister.

i hoard paintings. hundreds and hundreds are produced in a year.

my ex however, put his foot down and he would do twice yearly trips to the tip (dump) which keeps the painting clutter down. i have learned to do some clean outs these days. rejects are slashed and taken in a trailer to the tip. but they are still stacked all over our house against walls and my studio gets to a point that i cannot get in.

i find it very difficult to sort through things to throw out. i get panicky when asked to do it.

i hoard papers and cannot throw paper bits out.
twigs.
i buy chilli sauce and hair dye in bulk - and other things, mainly because i know if i buy bulk they will be there when i need them but if i buy one at a time the executive dysfunction stuff makes it hard to get down to the shops to buy what i need when i need it. most of my shopping trips i get so overwhelmed i forget things and have to get out with only half the stuff bought.

i hoard lots of useless things that mean nothing to anyone else.

objects are heaven. they are my link to the world.
