Will too much information from parent about son seem biased or is this helpful for the diagnosis? How much is too much?

(son is already diagnosed with pdd-nos, but I feel he is older now and clearly meets criteria for Aspergers).

thx.

im 28 now, and undiagnosed. and struggling hard with how to "introduce" my clear suspicions to my family. nobody noticed anything abnormal w me, despite the symptoms i realize ive had my whole life :D
now i fear they will - since theyre used to me as i am - insist i am normal, and keep pushing for me to "snap out", get a wife, car and a job.
the only ones ive suggested it to is my aunt, who read up on it, and found it to fit perfectly.. and my social worker, whom i havent heard from yet.

as a son, who'd need some parental support, i'd advice you to give all the information you can. that's what parents are for ;]

The more parental input I had, the more refined my diagnosis got. I started out labeled NLD and then NLD with AS traits and then my dad brought in my baby book and explained to the doc that I had never had a friend through school or college. Then, finally I got diagosed AS at 36 years of age.

I'm pretty sure every little bit helps.

I agree that the more information, the better. Your biggest fear, should be that that psych isn't qualified to use the info to an advantage. Here in small town PA, that is my biggest problem.
