I am writing a persuasive speech for my English class. We must choose a debatable topic and take a side on the issue. I'd really like to do my report on something related to Autism or ASDs. Do you have any ideas?

Also, do you have any tips for effectively communicating my point in the speech? I've never written a speech in my life and I already stink at presenting.

Controversies:

"Mercury Moms" who insist vaccines caused their kids' autism even though there is no evidence and a court ruling that it does not.

"Autism Speaks" which makes us look like we can't speak for ourselves and which portrays us as pathetic and in dire need of a "cure" for being who we are (also known as "curebies.")

I find the 'they're all geniuses' thing a bit annoying, maybe you could debunk that notion.
