Was your diagnosis with AS by means of any sort of questionaire?

I recently completed a 'multiple choice' whereby you had to agree to differing extents with some statements, eg

'I am a good diplomat'

Answer: 'Slightly Disagree'

On the basis of this test I may be diagnosed with AS. Go me!

Early on in the process, there were questionaires.
Self-found on line, the Baron-Cohen ones: they gave interesting numbers.
Finding like-minded individuals on AS message boards, that was a revelation.

Formal diagnosis included once again questionaires like the Baron-Cohen ones, but also an extensive interview with my mother concerning my early childhood (which opened my eyes a little), a three hour session one-to-one with the specialist, and another hour-long visit to review and consider her report.

Any professional working just from a questionaire,
now that would set alarm bells ringing.

I had to fill out a questionaire called the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory - second edition.

My doctor already had a full set of data from testing done when I was younger so there was no need repeat that.

Just a lot of interviewing with me and my parents.

Mine had his name on it. I didn't know he was an expert in AS and the like.

He's one of the better known specialists. Here's his Wikipedia biography page:

Taking the online tests is what got me thinking.

I took the Baron-Cohen test over a year ago and I'm like "Yeah, great. I'm Autistic" and didn't give much more thought than that and continued with my day.....but it was still in the back of my mind. All I knew about Autisim then was what I saw in "Rainman."

As time passed I started taking closer looks at myself and my past... doing more research, ....then I heard about Aspergers. Reading and participating in the discussion borads is what finalized the Dx of myself. Reading most of the personal experiences and problems here is like looking in the mirror. There is a connection with others experiences here like nothing I've ever experienced....and I can't ignor that.
