Has anyone else ever felt euphoric when being around someone who makes very relaxing noises or behaviors that you can't really explain.

I've felt euphoric from having someone borrow crayons or drawing utensils from me and they just sit there drawing and making neat relaxing noises with their voice and the utensils hitting the paper and the sound of the paper. And I'm able to just enjoy it and look at them and just completely enjoy it. It's a really weird thing for me I've always wondered if other people feel the same or if it is kind of abnormal. It's almost like I'm getting a mental massage. I think it's probably the best feeling I've ever had. I wouldn't be surprised if it's similar to highs people get from drugs. Has anyone else ever felt this?

Not with noise, but vibrations can make me feel like this. I love putting my head aagainst the window of a veichle and feeling the vibration.

My obsessions can make me feel like this as I get so absorbed in them. It also happens when i'm feeling especially creative or completed something I'm proud of, like a piece of music. It get a definite high from that! It's lthe adrenaline rush for me :D

I get this from every single thing you all have mentioned, and I'm sure if I put some thought into it, I could think of other things that do it as well. Hearing others sigh contentedly has always been a huge happy-maker for me, and laying my head on something that's vibrating....never gave it too much thought, but come to think of it, I'm nearly compelled to do so.

Yes and no. I get a euphoric feeling with the combination of the sound of the gentle strokes of a pencil/crayon/etc. on paper, along with their gentle relaxed demeanor. I'm not so sure about their relaxing vocal noises relaxing me... I can't recall that happening.

Physical movement does it for me. Walking or biking for fifteen minutes or so generally has me grinning like an idiot. :P And of course I express happiness in physical movement, too; especially excited and you'd see me jumping up and down! I'm glad I live on the first floor; my neighbors would hate me otherwise!

That is so awesome!! ! Yes!

With all the other anti-other-people posts, this is so refreshing! I also get a rush from people. Like, sometimes at the grocery store - I get off on the peaceful buzz and I seem to notice and observe all the things we have in common with each other. Its hard to explain - but you did an awesome job of shining a light on that feeling.

I also love the sound of far off laughter. Unless someone is guffawing in my ear or has a really annoying or mean laugh - I love to see and hear people laughing. Especially, families and couples. :D

Thanks for brightening my day. Very sweet post.

Yes - I get this weird euphoria you speak of but not from paper and crayon, but with other objects that are deeply personal to me. I'm guessing that you like to draw and that drawing and art are important to you personally.

For me it usually involves having something of mine "instpected" and it usually requires a certain amount of innocent curiosity on the part of the inspector so usually it occures with small children, typically little girls, as boys tend to not be interested in other people in that same unselfish way. I know I konw - it sounds pervy - but its not.

Normally, it occures when I'm visiting a friend and thier child or younger sybling is there. Naturally the child is curoius about his big hairy man visiting thier relative. They will exibit a facination with something about me. It could be my long hair or my beard and they will touch and examine it with rapt curiosity. And it doesn't have to be something physically attached to me. One time I had put my wallet down on a coffee table while I waited for a date. My date's little sister came in and picked up the wallet and began to look through it. She made little sothing noises acknowledging and approving of what she found there. It was very pleasant (but not at all sexual - in case you are still thinking I am a perv).

I suppose that it has to do with my AS damaged social mind. I would hypothesize that some sort of social positive reinforcement cuircuit is being activated. I am certain that if I got only a fraction of that sort of pleasure from normal social interaction I would be much more interested in, an energised by be arround and interacting with people.

That reminds me of another great pleasure of mine I havn't had in a long time. When I was in high school, my favorite thing to do on weekend mornings was to lay all suggly in my bed half awake and listen to the sounds of the house as it came awake. Hearing people waling about, mucking about in the kitchen... you know that simple sounds of domesticity in the morning ... it was incredibly comforting...

We know you're not a perv. It sounds as if you have awesome dad instincts!

And I've always said, kids, like animals, can detect "evil". So, if a kid crawls all over you - its a very good sign that you, sir, are a good guy! :D

Holding a sleepy baby. It's like they give off 'sleep waves'. I have to concentrate to not go to sleep myself.

Awww - not to mention the baby smell. Especially the smell of their little heads.
