Yes, I do get these. I think they're normal movements, not tics. These happen because parts of the nervous system are glitching a little as they turn off. Humans aren't the only creatures that do this. My bird also twitches as she falls asleep.
Stims are something else. They're voluntary/semivoluntary movements that can be stopped but they can start up again without you realizing it. I stim a lot, but I try to control it, often imperfectly, when I am around other people. Lately I have had a lot of stress in transitioning out of graduate school, and I have been tugging at my hair, rubbing my feet, shaking my legs and picking at my hands.
