I've got like this constant worry that everyone is watching me and judging me. I know it's idiotic and untrue, but I can't stop worrying about it. Anyone else have this problem?

I used to be self-conscious as a kid, and my mom told me "Other people aren't thinking about you--they're thinking about themselves." And since I was busy thinking about MYself and what other people thought of me, that had a ring of truth, and I believed it.

Also, a friend once said to me, "It's none of your business what other people think of you!", and that struck me as so hilarious and wise that it sorta snapped me out of worrying about it forever.

I used to be that way. But people are probably just thinking about themselves. My psychologist told me that all thoughts are unrealistic.
You say it's a constant worry? Ever thought about getting treatment for it? Anti-anxiety medication or therapy may help.

Yes I use to have this problem a lot growing up.

Don't have it as much anymore but to an extent yes although I've gotten pretty use to it actually happening.

I think it's all those meds I'm on and then having gone through one psychologist and psychiatrist after another.

I know it's pointless. I figure I can just will myself to not think about it anymore.
I have a perfect example though. I've been making a few posts on here and I had the thought maybe the people here will get annoyed at me for talking to much. I know it's totally unrealistic though, but it does tend to stop me from doing things sometimes.

I was this way when I was younger, but then, being harassed so much by the other students at my school really did make it feel like I was the center of attention. If you can't walk down the hall without being accosted, you're pretty much guaranteed to feel that way.

I still wonder what people think of me - not so much a worry, because I don't really care, as much as a curiosity. People seem to like me now that I'm older and more among people like me (at least, more like me than the people I was around growing up), but I still have this nagging doubt that maybe it's not true and they're just being nice.

It was much more of an issue when I was younger.

i think its inevitable. your young, and part of growing up is "becoming a 'complete' human"

everyone struggles to find out "what kind" of human they are on their way to becoming. knowing yourself being aspie, its only natural you'd be extra concious about your difference.

hopefully you'll shake it off once you've done your growing.

i felt like you describe, now i dont.

Yes. I'm very paranoid about other people. Usually they are talking about me and judging though so it isn't exactly being paranoid. Its being realistic.

I used to be this way as well. Like my screen name applies, I love the 80's (as well as the 70's and early 90's), but the thing is I'm only 22 years old. The average 22-year old nowadays would probably make fun of those eras. For whatever reason, at age 13, I started being fascinated with the 80's. I used to think that people my age would think I'm weird, but I got over that eventually. Doubts also kept me from wearing what I wanted to wear. Today, I draw inspiration from fashion of the early, mid to late 80's and the early 90's and made those styles my own, but back then I was scared to do that. I ended up wearing what my demographics would wear just to "fit in". Now, people may look at me like WTF, but I like rocking the nostalgic look. It makes me feel unique, and I'm proud to stand out in a crowd wherever I go (I wear current styles sometimes too, I'm not THAT out of touch with today's era LOL :D ).

We people are like snowflakes; even though they appear to be, no two are exactly alike. And you won't please everyone on this planet. You just gotta be yourself, no matter what and try not to think of what others think about you. It'll drive you nuts eventually. When you constantly analyze what people think of you, you also lose the ability to live your own life.

a friend of mine has gone as far as to accuse total strangers of stalking him, and even getting into fistfights over it, ending up badly beaten.

hes a schizo paranoid.

my point is, he obviously thinks hes being SO realistic, that hes willing to stop random people in the street, point and yell at them, and get into fights :]

Yes, this is a classic symptom of anxiety and worrying about it causes...

Anxiety

Don't get caught in a loop doing this

Obviously some anxiety can be helpful to stop us from being brash anti-social animals who talk over others etc

Did I just say that out loud LOL

:-)

When I do a stupid thing, I still have the impression people are going to remember it for ages... and sometimes my mind flips to 10 years ago to think about a stupid thing I have don a that time.

A few months ago I talked to a classmate from that time and it was strange what things he remembered from school and what things I remembered. Peoples memories work differently apparently. So from that moment I had some 'proof' that people will not remember every stupid thing I do. It makes me feel a bit more confident than I was.
