Aspergers - Do I have it?

I highly suspect I have Asperger's Disorder.
I've never had any close friends and many people think i'm just plain weird.
I do some weird s**t...I talk to myself a lot, I make weird faces and noises
for no apparent reason other that just for the hell of it, I have conversations
with myself, I have virtually no hobbies (well if you could count porn expert
as an hobby, lol) I am horrible communicator and it's so bad I can't even make
small talk without everything being so damn awkward. I do have some compulsive
habits such as fidgeting with everything. I also tend to rock back and forth when
exited or really interesting in something. I even look Aspie. One look at me and
you would swear I have AS.
However...
There are some things that make me think otherwise.
I took the wired AQ test and got a 17. That's far away from Aspie (35). I think
I might just be a loser instead of actually having the disorder. I'm really socially
awkward and acutally I think I have APD (Avoidant Personality Disorder) I'm also
suffering from major depression so I really don't know. I don't mean to offend anybody
and I apologize if I somehow I did.

Hand slapping...I don't think i've ever done that. I don't really have any routines that I follow...for instance I go to bed at different times every night. I'm very spontaneous and I typically just do things as they come to me.

Wow, I do talk to myself A LOT. I even go as far as having full conversations with myself. I do this mostly because I don't have friends and it helps me think.

How old are ye? Jus curious..

I am assessed as being an aspie, and while I have some routines, my life isn't completely ruled by them.

Also, apparently not all aspies have narrow interests. I have lifelong obsessions that are always with me..but I sorta co-exist with them...

This is a pretty diverse place. Sounds like you would fit in here. Even if you are not an aspie, it does not mean that you are not on the spectrum.

What kinds of traits are your "non-aspie" traits?

I think the wired AQ test is a pretty good indicator. I mean, if you score that low on it I don't think you have Asperger's, at least.

I think it might be PDD-NOS and Hyperchondria IMO. You said you THOUGHT you had a lot of different disorders which makes me think Hyperchondria.

How can you tell some one has AS just by looking at them???
My son is autistic and yet I have been told "he doesn't look autistic".
Go back to your psychologist/psychiatrist and get assessed so you know for sure.

Finally - something that I can actually relate to. For all of my life I have been classed antisocial and lost several jobs because of my responses and reactions. I took this test and hit 42. I am not in horrendous trouble but I do know my employable days are limited if I keep going without at least recognising there is a problem.

Those "weird noises"--can you prevent them, if you happen to want to?

If not, it may be Tourette's--that is, multiple tics. There's no real treatment for it, though some meds can decrease tics. On the plus side, it's harmless except when repetitive movements cause injury.

I've decided that I probably do not have AS. I'm just a really socially awkward NT. I'm weird as hell too. I just need to grow up and make some friends. For some reason growing up I just wasn't able to make lasting friends and that led to this antisocial spiral that made me the socially awkward person I am today.

yeah. are you sure you read the questions of the AQ correctly. From what you've described so far its quite surprising that you scored as low as 17. I mean thats even lower than the NT control group (I think!)

I just did that wired AQ test and I scored 33 - what does that mean? that's quite high, isn't it?

I just answered the questions as honestly as I could - I'm a bit surprised actually - it sounds quite high.

I think that that maybe I will do the test again tomorrow.but I guess I would answer more or less exactly the same though.

The reason I came to this site was because someone mentioned to me that another website that I spend most of my time online at had been unfairly ridiculed by someone here - so I wanted to just set the record straight and make it clear that they were mistaken - and then I started reading and was really impressed by lots of the threads - can someone help me a bit with what this score means in terms of the number because I'm more or less ignorant of how to gauge the results..but I am a but shocked it - somebody else said they scored 17 and I assume the higher the score is predicting a higher chance of exhibiting - I don't even know what really - i just did it out of curiosity.

i guess I should just do some more reading myself but I'm too tired right now.. it's late here. I'm not normal, I know that lol but I didn't expect to get 33 is that borderline something or what?

I have trouble socially and I spend a lot of time alone - I enjoy painting and reading - i'm left handed, I don't know if that means anything..

anyway, enough rambling from me - any feedback would be much appreciated - as said I'm a bit surprised - I took a test a couple of years ago - the result was like a circular chart and it positioned you on it somewhere and I remember it said I was in the spectrum (?) but I didn't remember make efforts to remember it properly and always just considered I was a bit odd compared to people around me but put it down to my experiences..

thanks for any replies I guess *shrugs* that was well strange - I kind of wish I hadn't done the darn thing now - arrove on the site yesterday, do a test today that I read about in a thread and seemingly get quite a high number as a result..
