I can't get help from the nhs
I just assume that you are an adult. The NHS works on mysterious ways. Asperger on itself seems to be regarded with adults as a extreme low priority issue. So don't go via Asperger, if you can, but if you have any other mental health problems, which may would have consequences in your life you may can get an assessment via this way.
If this is not the case, than it will be quite difficult.
I got into my mental health system for major depressive disorder. It's OK if you're assertive enough not to let them drug you when you don't need it.

Yes, the NHS isn't brilliant is it? Does the National Austistic Society do anything in your area? Feel free to messge me , but TBH, I'm officially diagnosed and I don't know where I would go for help- I don't get any at all, and i have some of the same issues as you.

Think we should abandon hope af the psychriatic system they cant help anyone just put them in a box(dsm) drug them and as long as they dont look like they are going to hurt themselves or anyone else send them on there way.Our present society is not good for anyones mental health.Dont despare noone understands aspergergers we are trailblaizers we must help each other. This has to be done with people meeting face to face dont know how this can be done in this day and age funding will not come perhaps outing famous aspies would help.neurotypicals have a denial mechanism that makes them oblivious to different points of view yes even mental health proffesionals.good luck vive la aspie
Unfortunately, adults with ASDs seem to be a very low priority everywhere. In the US the situation seems even worse. Not that that should make you feel any better, but you'd be in the same or worse situation here, probably (i.e., you're stuck if you can't pay to get help).
I think the advice of trying to stress other mental disorders you might have instead is good. Obviously you shouldn't make up fictitious problems to get help, but if you have other problems, try to get help for those. At some point you may come across someone who can help you get the proper help for this too. ASDs, especially in adults, seem to be seen as "mysterious," requiring (expensive and hard-to-find) specialist help, and generally speaking not something a lot of people in the healthcare system seem to be familiar with. Basically, most of the people we might go to for help wouldn't seem to know what to do with us. If you have, say, depression, well, people know what that is and what the "accepted" thing to do is. ASDs are different, there are widespread established procedures mostly for small children with fairly severe autism (they may not be good procedures, but they're there) but for people like us everyone just seems confused and maybe not even aware what AS or HFA are let alone what to do or even whether they need to do something. So try to get help for what you can get help for.
I am from the USA, the state of Rhode Island and they do not really have any appropriate services for asperger's. The only place they gave me was a program with people with Autism, which is so not appropriate. I am a very highly intelligent person and the clients because the are mostly autistic and/or mentally ret*d, they treated me like I was dumb and being the highest functioning there(only aspie), I was forced to deal and put up with the other clients behaviors that were directly at me, and all I was told was they are not as high functioning and smart, so I was not allowed to tell on them and I would get in trouble if I did because the staff were told to consider it an insensitive behavior towards more disabled clients. The residential is horrible. I am living in a duplex where even though I have my own side and the other side has 2 moderately autistic, mentally ret*d, and severely behavioral men, who abuse me(and I get in trouble if I get them in trouble because I would be "written" up for insensitivity.) But it is considered a group home, so I have no freedom, and they have control over everything, even with things I am excellent at, which is basically everything, including understanding and taking care of my own health needs, and I also do all of my chore without any help. Here it is horrible.
If you are looking for services, I would evaluate what your needs are because a lot of places still group autistic and people with asperger's together and the asperger's person is treated like they are brain dead. So good luck and I hope all is well.

Please correct me if I interpret your words not correctly, because you mix up the present and past time grammatically: You are still living in this appealing conditions?
If this is the case, you should try to do something very soon. I don't your situation and legal stand (fully capable or not) and the legal situation in Rhode Island, perhaps I oversaw it, but I would suggest to open here a thread. Hopefully other here can provide more support than I can.

I am sorry about the confusion. I actually still am in that situation. Unfortunately, in Rhode Island, there has been massive budget cuts to human services which is making the situation a lot worse. I have contacted the state about my situation, and my state social worker told me that I did not need there services any more, so she told me to apply for section 8 subsidized houses, where I can live independently. As for the day program, even though I technically do not physically go there, they are still responsible for me during the day.The home I live in is sponored by the same agency that also runs the day program I attend. When I told the social worker, she did get mad that the state was paying for me to be at the building when I never was there.
But unfortunately, the law states, I can not leave the home until I have found an apartment. The state of Rhode Island does not want their "clients" to be homeless when they leave group homes, so they can not release anyone until they have other placement. I can not go back home since my family situation is too difficult with my dad's Alzheimer's and my sister, who has AdHD, is very confrontational with me and causes me a great deal of stress and anxiety.
The unfortunate part too is that while I am at the group home, I have to go allow them to control me and I am still going back and forth with my social worker about this issue.
The agency themselves are not very happy about me leaving, so they are really pushing my buttons hoping for me to have a breakdown, so I can crack and become not able to care for myself so I could stay. Because of the budget cuts, they claim that they can not "replace" me with someone else because it would be too costly to the state to add extra transitional staffing for this person.

I've been treated like this too.
It's not a pleasant experience.
Help needs to be administered in the right way and it needs to be appropriate tailored to the individual.
