I'll go first.

I'm probably the only person in the world who feels this way, but I resent people talking about:
walls painted cream or peach
chocolate eyes
champagne hued material
sandwich wood furniture
strawberry / cherry wood furniture
cocoa butter for dry skin
etc.

It makes me want to eat the food mentioned and frustrates me!

LOL Greentea, I feel the same way! If someone mentions something chocolate-coloured, I think, "Hmm, I really want a Mars bar..."

LOL princess, and I thought it was only me! This woman at work was going on and on about how she had her walls painted cream, and I wanted to scream for her to stop making me crave whipped cream, ice cream, cream cheese. And I don't even think real cream is any color but white!

Food related color references don't so much make me crave the food in question, it just makes the object under discussion seem dirty or messy. If it's got cream or chocolate color on it, it needs to be wiped off... 8O...yuk.

Don´t know if this is in the same vein, but I am always irritated when people pronounce the word "mature" like "matoor". I just don´t like that pronunciation! I´m not sure why: maybe it´s because I associate it with a teacher I didn´t like, as I think that was the first time I heard it pronounced that way.

I also don´t like it when people say "nucular" instead of "nuclear"....(George Bush did this!) If you look at the letters in the word "nuclear", how can you get "nucular" out of that?

Another thing I have trouble with is when people say "less" when they should say "fewer". I think this bothers me because my own mother corrected me for years! Then, for many years, I corrected other people on it; it was just a gut reaction. Now I´ve learned that it doesn´t go over well when I correct people on that, but every time I hear someone say "less" when it should be "fewer", I have to think "fewer" in my mind.

Morgana, I know! Also when people write "their" instead of "there" and the like and I have to translate them in my head. It rubs me the wrong way.

Other food cravings I get:
almond-shaped eyes
chestnut hair
caked makeup

Delicious decor topic

I think people use those shades you write in your two posts because then people can get a visual of what the person is describing. I have a hard time seeing off white or mahogany but I can see cream and dark chocolate. But if you are on a diet/fasting the thoughts of food could provoke a meltdown.

I see these descriptions in magazines and online. I think there is also snob appeal, using food analogies as colour shades.

LOL Sue, you made me laugh again with your straight-to-the-point comments.

Imagine, it's right after lunch at work, I'm dying for some dessert, and this woman is going on and on about her "cream" walls!

Which reminds me: it drives me nuts in the same way when Americans (and Canadians??) öffer "cream" with your coffee, when all they have is milk. Coffee with cream is delicious, but with milk it's not the same, so don't you get frustrated when they offer you milk as cream???? I see it in American movies all the time, and always wonder.

Same issue with egg-zakly - what's so hard about pronouncing 'ex' and 'actly'? Or ex - aggurate. No 'egg' in that one, either.

Or 'Ask' pronounced as 'axe', 'I'll go axe the teacher.' Please don't, Frankenstein, I wouldn't want to be considered an accessory.

I grew up with y'all, it doesn't bug me too much, and even the occasional ain't is forgivable, if it's done for emphasis - and only rarely - but lazy pronunciation and spelling are a pet peeve. For gods' sakes, posters, you have Spell-Check RIGHT THERE!

Oh yes, I forgot that one! Another pet peeve....
