This topic assumes you know what social status is. Here is a link to Wikipedia if you don't know
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_status

These are ways to improve you social status among NTs. Of course, one of the joys of being an autie is that you don't have to worry over this because everyone treates people equally.

1.) Intelligence. People think that knowing the capital of Palau is "Intelligence", but I am sure when I am in Melekeok it won't matter much.
2.) Accomplishing something tremoundous. Another example, winning the geography bee in the state of New Jersey in 2004.
3.) Overcoming personal tradegy ie, child abuse, incent, rape, bad relationships, bad socieconomic standing, etc
4.) Accomplishing something that your gender or race has not ie, Sirimavo Bandaranike, the first women leader(of then Ceylon, now Sri Lanka, renamed in 1972), Barack Obama, the first African American president, Heather Kuzinch, first autie supermodel
5.) Perfect clean slate. That is being ultrahonest and brutal. Frank Serpico back in the 1920s in the NYPD who busted a few gangsters and was not influenced by his fellow men in blue to get kickbacks.
6.) Resolution of a difficult issue with extreme self-confidence. THis is called "resilence" in the NT world. It's basically, instead of crying about say geting raped, moving on and not even thinking about it.
7.) Giving others a clean slate. Nelson Mandela is the perfect example of this. After apartheid was over, he could have easily have sent all of the National Party's big fish to Robben Island. He did not and instead created a Truth and Reconcilation Commission.
8.) Being the best in a certain field. "An expert". I learned through observation that most experts are consulted based on status rather then the actual information they possess. Again, anyone can find out that Melekeok is the capital of Palau, but alot of people go to me first, because I have the "status" of a geography geek.

Ok, this is a very short list, but if I continue it can go ad nauseum. What do the people of WP think about this? Any other things to list? Am I right? Am I wrong? Tell me!

When I read the subject line of your thread, I thought it would start with the question, "Do you care about your social status?" To which my reply would have been, no, I couldn't care less about my (or anybody else's) social status.

/\ I don't either, but it's an unfortuante fact of interaction among NTs. It's called the "audience". I honestly treat everyone equal and I don't buy the social status game, but is an unavoidable as money.

I thought this thread would be an altruistic attempt to change the perceptions of auties from being disabled to seeing the world differently. I hate using Hitler as an example, but in order for him to set up a dictatorship, he had to act democratically at first.

That's it. Evolution is on the auties' side, but evolution is slow. Play the NT games to buy time and use that as good debt to leverage your way out of a bad reputation and perception.
