I want to get tested regarding the Autism Gene, CDH10

As it now stands, they can call any of us Autistic and make a lot of money keeping us there. If we are Autistic they can say millions have it.

What if I don't? What if it was a neuro-toxin?

Will they withold this from us or let us get tested? I WANT TO BE TESTED!

I would be willing to supply researchers with a sample of my DNA, maybe even a vial of my blood.

But I would want to make sure that the researchers are not going to attempt to create a tool of oppression such as a prenatal test for autism, before I ever hand over a sample of my DNA. My worry is that the better the understanding of the genetics of autism and aspergers that the more easy it would be to misuse the knowledge by creating something which would harm the interests of the AS community.

What might be of greater use would be if I allowed my brain to be probed with PET to find out how the AS brain differs from a NT brain.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

The question is, do you really want to be tested? There's always a big risk with lumping yourself in with a group rather than being treated as an individual, a risk that it may be used to limit your life or restrict your rights in some way. I personally would not wish to take that risk, and have it on my record that I have it.

There is no single gene responsible for autism, that's why you can't currently get tested for it.

If there ever is a test for autism, it will have to be on a symptom of the autism, because even testing positive for 3 out of 5 of the genes may not mean you have it. Some test like amygdala size could be used, or perhaps a brain scan indicating brain activity in regions while looking at pictures or videos. This is the more scientific method that will develop to test for autism over time.

I'm sure they will probably develop prenatal tests for autism genes within the next few years, but like I said I don't think having a few of the genes will automatically mean autism.

Then again, I could be totally wrong.

Those who benefit from my having autism.

The nature of the Research Beast is to show that excessive amounts of people are threatened. If I were the only one in the world, no one would care.
Autism dxes have gone way up. I maintain that I have been poisoned by a neurotoxin. Now, that may truly be what is behind autism to beging with, But mine happened later, in my teen years. I had early symptoms, but very mild. Head b anging etc., but no speach delay. But as a teen, I was straight up Autistic. No question. No talking, it all fell apart in a amjor way.

To me, it was a neurotoxin. How can a child go from communciating, having friends, competing in ice skating national championships, and in 2 months, not be able to talk, eat, etc.? It was like what happens to the little children after a shot.

So when I am Dxed autism, I have to wonder.

So I want to be tested. I am not so sure I have what ever it is. I have the same phenomena of everyone who has it NOW, but so do others who have beuro damage.

So Like I said, I WANT TO BE TESTED.

Could puberty have been a factor?

It sounds late for CDD but that could possibly be a factor. I agree with the others that that the genetics is mostly just risk factors and not conclusive.

The immunization connection has been debunked.

Hmmm. Just looked up CDD. That is exactly what is was like, but way later- like 14. However, I was always about (am still am) about 25% behind peers.

So at 14, I was really like 8 or so. That is still late, but something happened.

I agree 14 sounds pretty old for CDD.

Instead of pursuing genetic testing you may have better luck seeing a neurologist about potential nervous system damage.

Insurance will probably refuse to finance genetic testing but maybe a researcher studying CDD or autism would use you as part of a study. That may be a way to get tested.

I wish you luck getting answers. Just don't let worry about why things are ruin your happiness.

Could be schizophrenia. That has a late onset of teens and 20s.

Rather than a blood test, couldn't you just see a different psychologist?
