This happens to me until I get a migraine and I have even taped my own mouth shut. Have no control.

Agreed. You're not the only one. It is a stress response, though I rarely realise it at the time.

I often do this. I get very anxious and I have no idea what to say but I feel the overwhelming urge to say something. I usually end up rambling from topic to topic while talking very quickly. I don't think it's necessarily manic but rather an expression of social anxiety and confusion.

My husband gets this after a migraine. He literally can't shut up, and will talk on any subject for hours. It is literally a compulsion.

I don't mind it, but he has lost friendsome over the non stop talking.

Until I started mellowing out in my mid-twenties, my speech was either manic and with words running together or labored with lots of stammering, incomplete sentences, or even forgetting what I was saying in the middle of saying it.

It must be that chattering happily about my interests, or whatever has been on my mind, is what singing is for most stutterers.

Anyway, after several years of working on it and getting on an effective medication, I've normalized.
