We get several new users every day. But none of them seem to stick around for more than a few days. What's going on? When I joined, it seemed that other new members would more often become permanent residents than they do now.

Comments?

That is strange.

I know some of them are probably lurkers.

But even so, it is strange.

well, i'm very fresh here.... so i don't think i can give you a good answer. but maybe it's because alot of people here know each other very well.... so maybe there isn't a good chance for new people to start joining and knowning everybody else... we all have AS so maybe we should welcome new WP members better...

i don't know if i made any sense...lool.. sorry if i didn't

I've been noticing that. The member count is way up, but there's not all that many new posters. There are a few of them that I would like to see more of too. :(

It might just be the way the forum is set up-- it's a big forum with a large group of regular posters, which can seem intimidating and off-putting at first. It's hard to break into an already established group of people who know each other well.

I am quite new here too. But I do not feel that way about these forums at all.

At first I was not really interested (probably unlucky to see only threads that did not interest me at that time). Than after a short while I gave it another shot, and now I feel like I am addicted to the WP forums :D

(reading a lot more than I post too btw)

I’m sure people are reading the posts. Right now, I can’t think of anything to say. If I do think of any topic/response that is interesting or constructive, I’ll add a post. Remember, quantity is not quality.
Anyway, my brain is currently fully occupied in dealing with all of the NTs at work...

I lurked for a few months, posting when I felt comfortable.

To all the lurkers, I say welcome! Follow Larval's lead!

An Asperger trait is difficulty in maintaining relationships. The anonymity of the net helps somewhat but doesn't come close to eliminating it. Also, not all topics are relevant to all members. There may well be many that join and then read the various posts. I read much more than I post.

When I first joined I felt really intimidated and waited a while before posting as well. And when I did post I was like "omg". Plus I felt like an outsider because everyone else seemed to know each other and replied to everything and talked so easily, as it seemed. After a while I got used to it and it didn't really matter. But I agree with what other people have said in this topic.

Heh, I didn't lurk very long, but it was about a month before I formally introduced myself. Also, when I joined, I was having a difficult time with a lot of stuff (especially AS), so I wanted to see what other people did to help. Maybe this is just because I'm a curious person... ;)
