Computer vs mobil devices for texting.
Know I have some very rigid routines that is very hard for me to change so I don't go into meltdowns. Just recently I realize yet another rigid routine. When I'm chatting with someone who is using a computer like I do, especially on facebook, I know when my message is read, when the other person is typing and when Enter is pressed the message pops up. I have gotten so use to this that it really annoys me when someone, and there are a number of people who use mobil devices, try to contact me on one, I don't see anything on my end except that they read my message. So I don't know if he or she is multitasking and what I mean by this is trying to chat with others leaving me hanging or trying to look up something on the Internet still leaving me hanging, especially when a person initiates the online conversation. Besides what I mentioned these mobil devices are pathetically slow. But I don't know why unless it takes so ungodly long for the user to type in the message unless he or she is not proficient in typing on one of those things. I won't hardly return the message when that happens and am just barely able to return the message if that person has quite a bit to say, then wait until I get back with that person later. Even though my friend who has an autistic child use a mobil device I will answer any replies she sends becasue she does have something to say that covers quite a bit of information. Another device I don't like to hold online conversations on for the same reasons I mention are WIIs. I'm probably just being a fuddy duddy or is this just another strict routine of ASD?
What is everyone's take on holding online conversations when you are on a computer and that person is on a mobil device?

I never tried it, except SMS text messaging, where I never expect an instant reply.
Can you use a messaging system that is not available on mobile devices, and only available on computers? That would eliminate the problem.

I really can't answer your question. I never use mobil devices for messaging but I can see what's going on, on my end which is always on a computer.
Are you on a computer messaging with a mobil device or WII even?

Not right this moment, but I have been.

I can see where there wouldn't be problems with devices of the same kind. And these devices wouldn't bother me if I can see a message on facebook noting that the person are typing. But as I said before, if some folks didn't try to multitask which I would ask about and he or she said they were emailing someone or checking out something on You Tube while messaging me on facebook I may not be so sensitve about not seeing the typing thing at the bottom of each message sent to me. Some people just aren't proficient in typing on a mobil devices though I have seen others that can type faster than I can using a regular keyboard. If I'm left hanging while the person is doing other things on the Internet then that person can't effectively multitask. I do some mutlitasking myself if I chatting with someone else on facebook. But I feel like I'm fast enough to do this and make sure both windows are opened so I can immediately go back to chatting with that person instead of leaving that person hanging. Timing is key for me when it comes to me multitasking. It could be I'm just being too sensitve about this because it is just another ASD trait. I do have a lot of quirky things going on.
