- Astrophysics, with a special interest in both stellar formation and black holes (had to really bite my tongue during the series finale arc on Battlestar Galactica, when the writers couldn't seem to figure out the difference between a black hole and a naked singularity)

- The Multiple World hypothesis in quantum physics (even though it can never be falsifiable - it's still fun to think about)

- Science fiction

- The convoluted histories of the superheroes in Marvel and DC

- The fictional histories of various SF worlds, especially those of Star Trek and Mass Effect

- James White's Sector General stories

- New gadgets

- Trivia in general

- Maps. Any maps. I will occasionally buy a freeway atlas just so I can read the maps of the various US states.

I'm really interested in:

Sports (mainly knowledge of and watching and playing of): soccer, american football, tennis, poker (Texas Hold'em and Omaha) and cricket.

News/Current events, like to keep up to date of what's going on in the world.

Video Games - especially first person shooters (FPS's).

The economy - especially in these tough times!

Space

And lastly- a bit weird but:

Watching the sunrise and sunset - I don't do this very offen but when I do it amazes me. I've always wanted to watched the sunrise on the day of summer solstice (the longest day of the year - which is 21st June usually) Think I'm going to do this this year.

I know a bit about Aspergers too now, hah.

My only obsessions right now:
-video games
-computers
-maybe you can count movies, since I go through specific genres and watch a few dozen or so from each one (right now it's kung fu).

I do often find myself with short lived obsessions though. Like for maybe 4 or 5 months. Last few were psychology, reading books, origami, lucid dreaming, the paranormal, and when I was a kid I friggin loved K'NEX (that was an obsession for sure, and it lasted a good 6 years).

History
Economics- and not just "now", I mean Economics 101; god how I love it.
Cultural History( i.e. movies, TV, music, toys, etc)
Business

That pretty much covers it.

When I was at school I was renowned as 'the one who knows EVERYTHING about The Beatles'. I even got asked to compile questions on them for a team quiz one year.

I wouldn't claim to be 'the one who knows EVERYTHING about Nirvana' (that would be Everett True you're after  ), but I am fairly geeky in that department.

Other contenders for my specialist subject on Mastermind would be: the history of the city of Seattle, obscure facts about the human body (ask me about Meckel's diverticulum), religions, mythology, afterlife beliefs, and all things Sandman (the comic books). And I just generally pick up a whole bunch of totally useless trivia facts on just about everything else - except sport, in which I have no particular interest, and politics, in which the interpretation of the word 'fact' is dubious to say the least.

robbokris, where in the world are you? Avebury in England would be a cool place to watch the sunrise on the Solstice. Stonehenge is better known, but the stone circles at Avebury are more accessible (they more or less built the village in the middle of them), and it's really spooky first thing in the morning, especially when it's misty. I watched the midwinter sunrise broadcast online from Newgrange in Ireland in 1999 - only a few people can get into the chamber each year, but that year they decided to film it live it so anyone could see the first ray of sunlight hitting the chamber wall. It was very moving.
