Something that has always been an AS trait of mine is to collect things. And now, with over 1000 posts to the WP I got to thinking, "I bet I could learn a lot about me if I reread those posts." So...I am about halfway through printing out every post I have made here. I wonder if anyone else has done this? I am collecting all my posts and putting them in a notebook. I have also compiled my poetry and notes on my life that were used for my therapist. Someday, my sons might find it interesting to read about my life and how I thought. Most of us seem to put our emotions and important aspects of life in these posts---so it can be quite valuable to us. Without knowing, many of us have written a sort of autobiography of our lives. Perhaps others here will find it interesting to revisit those old threads and see how they have progressed through the journeys in life.

And I thought it was just me!

It's very self-centered and/or self-absorbed, but it is fascinating watching the changes flowing through ones posting history. And thinking "what an idiot I used to be..."!

Tell me about it...back in the winter I went through this period of worrying about finger length ratios of autistic people. Everytime I measured, I got a different reading. Now, it isn't that important to me.

from time to time i like to pour over my blog on melodramatic.com. 7 years of my life presented from my point of view. 7 years of rants and celebrations. almost a third of my life, documented.

i think it's helpful to see what it is you've written. i think it helps a lot in seeing your progression over time. i feel like it's helped me continue becoming who i want to be.

plus there's nothing better to put you back on firm ground, when you're upset, than seeing an old crisis that makes your current annoyance look like a dropped cupcake instead of the trainwreck it feels like.

Very good point Waltur. Life is full of ups and downs, and it does help to see how small some previous crisis was.

on any given day, i find it hard to reconcile my lack of understanding of the world a year prior.

i really wish i'd written more for some periods. i really wish i'd written more honestly for others.

all the same, no one gets how you see the world better than you do so when it comes down to it, you are the best suited to teach yourself how the world works.
