http://chapelhavenaspergerprogram.org/

Just curious if anyone has heard of it or knows anything about it (beyond what is on the website). I don't think they have had too many people through their program yet, as it was only recently started in 2006, and they take eight in at a time per year.

looks cool, my question is this. Does the Canadian single-payer health insurance program let you choose to go to something like this or do you have to pay for this out of pocket?

I wish ;) They're extremely tightfisted with Asperger's funding, especially so for adults. In British Columbia, if you are over 18 or have an IQ over 70, you are s**t out of luck for any sort of assistance beyond the sub-subsistence disability stipend of $856.00 Cdn. a month.

It doesn't sound different/unusual,it's just residential care for aspies.
The residential am waiting to move into is like that, but is permenant/life placement for four of us with varying levels of severe autism.
Most full residential places will try and improve residents skills as much as possible, like what chapel haven offers.

funding would be a problem for anyone wanting to go to chapel haven,if its anything like the UK,as they wont fund for specialist high care places unless have got the need and they've not got cheaper but suitable places available.
