I went to a local pub for dinner tonight, and ordered my beer with it. They didn't ID me, and the law here states that based on my appearence being as young as it is, they legally have to ID me, but they didn't... So, I am planning on emailing the local police... But what would you do? What would you do if you recognized your underage cousin drinking and not being IDed at a different table?

I'd mind my own business.

Yeah, in this case, I'd let it be. They'll be caught for it sooner or later.

Well, Padium, I see what you mean. It might be a good idea to tell the police. It wouldn't do any harm. I don't see a problem in telling the cops they didn't ID you and you look young. The cops will either shrug it off or, if enough people complain, raid the place. Either way they should ID people.

I never understood why America's drinking age is 21, it just seems ridiculously old for something like drinking.
The legal drinking age here is 16, but no one really cares and drunk kids are hilarious to watch.

To answer your question: I'd buy him another beer.

Emailing the local police? If no harm is done, there is no purpose in doing so.

Yes, I think the drinking age is way too high here, and in Canada, it is 19 anyways. Personally, there would be much less alcohol abuse in about 10 years or so if the drinking age today were lowered to about 12.

I wouldn't do a thing about it.

I also have a 17 year old sister that is an alcoholic, and will go to the place daily as soon as she finds out...

Honestly, unless it is to protect the job of someone you know or to protect someone you love, then just mind your own business. The police will eventually send an undercover kid to the place and threaten their LCBO license.

As for your sister, you could discreetly tell your parents about it who in turn, could threaten the establishment if they serve her as an underage minor.

In any case, it is up to the police to enforce the law, not you.

Yeah, don't do that crap. Snitches are b*****s that wind up in ditches. And yeah, the drinking age is too high in the US, I agree even though I passed it more than 14 years ago.

I probably wouldn't do anything; other than making sure they don't drive drunk (I mean come on, one should do at least that; the less drunk drivers the better.).
Or get driven by someone else who is drunk. That's just as bad.

I am not sure I understand this thread...you want to report a pub because they didn't ID you and you look young? Why is it such a big deal to call the police department and say "this place didn't ID me and I look young. I am worried they serve underage costumers there". I don't get why people have a problem with someone doing it. Happens all the time. You'd be surprised at how many people report such places, then they get raided. You'd also be surprised at how many kids lose their lives to such activities as drinking and driving. Just call and report them then forget about it!
