Did you get a qualifier with your diagnosis? The diagnostician didn't say whether I had it mild, moderate or severe but did go over the income supports available for me with the diagnosis, like Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped and Pervasive Development Disorder support. I just find it odd since I hear so many other people use qualifiers with their diagnosis.

It might have to do with the country I'm in which is Canada.

I didn't get a qualifier, either, and as far as I know, qualifiers aren't used int he DSM. I did get a score on axis V, called GAF score. This gives an indication of severity.

No, I did not. We did, however, go into deep discussion about the current diagnosing methods. I proposed some new insights, and the neurologist said it was exciting. A group of professionals here in Finland are now trying to create a new way of diagnosing based on my suggestions. I'll not go into any more detail here, because I realise that their motivation is to get the fame, so I'll let them have it. I am happy if it will eventually help others.

The psychiatrist did this little hand thing with me,

On one end you have Profound Autism and also LFA, and all the way on the other end you have AS; he moved a finger close to the AS end and said around here. Really, it's about as accurate as you can get.

O, and "high-functioning" was used too.

I was told I had mild Asperger's Syndrome, but that was because I'd been able to adapt pretty well socially through study, observation, and analysis. The psychologist said if I had been assessed several years earlier I probably would've been diagnosed as more moderate AS.

Hm, so it appears that the US diagnosticians do use the qualifiers but outside of the US, they don't.
