The number itself or the scenario for a movie's basic plot?

the year as you described it, assuming you're actually referring to years!
I always wonder about the future

In my opinion, the future is this: we here on the Earth have a century left to get into space, as a spacefaring civilization, or else we're stuck here for good until the end of time.

Ooh that is an interesting perspective - to be fair I haven't given it too much thought...do you think that will happen?

If I didn't think that was the condition, I wouldn't have stated it. However, if you mean, do you think that a spacefaring civilization will be created in this century? My answer to that would be that if people continue to behave as they are now, basically waiting for everything to happen on its own, nothing will ever get done and we will all be stuck here on Earth for the rest of time. I hope people will finally start constructing space elevators and centrifugal stations, habitats on the moon and Mars and the satellites of the gas giants, but it seems more like everyone prefers to rather tarry and stagnate to death here on Earth instead.
