Jersey: mentioned above as one of the Channel Islands, but worth a section of its own, to point out that despite its proximity to France, the islanders are almost entirely English-speaking. They also use their own version of the Pound Sterling. It remained occupied by the Germans a full 11 months after the allied D Day invasion of France, and was only liberated a day or so before the end of WW2 in Europe. It's probably best known these days as a tax-haven, unfortunately.

Kingston-upon-Thames - historic city on the Thames River in southeastern England. It is now part of Greater London.

Laguna Madre - the long and shallow body of seawater in Texas separated from the Gulf of Mexico by Padre Island

Memramcook, the largest village in New Brunswick, Canada.

Nova Scotia, Canada - province in eastern Canada, bordering the Atlantic Ocean and comprising a mainland peninsula and Cape Breton Island.

Northwest Angle -- If you look at a map of the US you will see a projection in the northwest corner of Minnesota sticking up north of what is the US boundary on either side. This is the Northwest Angle. In the winter, it is possible to drive across the ice, but the rest of the time, if you want to drive to the Northwest Angle you have to enter Canada and then back into the US at the border between Canada and the Northwest Angle.



Here is the unmanned border station. When crossing the border in or out of the Northwest Angle, you are required to stop at this border station and call the US or Canadian Customs on a videphone.
