Phew finally found the litter box.

Hey Dad, time to wake up and open the shades.
There’s good stuff on Netflix aka Window Cat TV

Emily is swimming dangerously close to the waterfall but she repeats her mantra,

No coward soul is mine
No trembler in the world's storm-troubled sphere
I see Heaven's glories shine
And Faith shines equal arming me from Fear

Quackenbush, Jessie and Zandrian extend branches to rescue their duck-mate from this sudden and precipitous plummet. She begins to glide upstream.

Emily,

You are a girl after my own heart! A girl who loves fine literature! I used to curl up near Lady IstominFan when she read her books for school throughout her studies.

Samantha

Quackenbush knows that Emily experienced discord, yet there's no permanent damage--either inwardly or outwardly.

Knows that Emily is resilient.

Knows that Emily knows that she is alive amongst friends.

So Quackenbush just acts like his normal self around Emily and all the gang.

He says, "look at me, I'm the Disco Duck!"

He's a silly goose!

What lovely colors, they shine so beautifully as you glide upstream along this laughing stream that meanders through the mysterious forest. It's sheltered here and I still feel magic in the air.

I grab a few fallen hazelnuts and follow Emily and Quackenbush. The felines follow slowly, not willing to get so much as the tip of a paw wet.

Jessie trots along the shore keeping the others in sight. The smells are intriguing. Mixed with the undergrowth and whiff of vole there are notes she cannot put her paw on. The lake waters lap gently on the shore and she can hear the ducks giggling and quacking. Zandrian is humming a song under his breath(or her? Jessie cannot tell the gender of squirrel by smell). The waterfall has its own sound, a constant whooshing, that doesn't drown out the other noises, but rather is part of the orchestra of the lake. She is aware of the other cats nearby but wants to walk alone for a while, drinking in the atmosphere.

What does magic smell like? Anyone? I think I smell magic! It is not quite fish and not quite fowl. Hints of honeysuckle, and maybe a bit of gunpowder?

Plus a heady mix of fresh toadstools!

Zandrian's a guy but gender's not important to him.

Would you like me to scout for a way past these steep rocks?

You can't get past those rocks surely! They look like an impenetrable wall. Are toadstools good to eat? The smell a bit strange. Please be careful Zandrian! Don't fall!

Don't worry, I'm used to this clambering and scurrying about on steep places. Don't eat the toadstools unless you want to experience the wrong kind of magic...the lake will turn orange, the trees purple and revolve around you like a cyclone!

The spires use them in very small quantities but they are a different species and from another dimension so it does them no harm but increases their magic powers.

Where are those other kitties?

The ducks are quite happy exploring their aquatic surroundings and are content merely to watch the inquisitive kitties and squirrel having their mountaineering adventure.

Quackenbush is in his own little world. He loves the kitties and other critters...but he loves his solitude even more.

He shall look for signs that those folks really want to hang out.

Otherwise, he’s cool in his own niche.

It doesn’t mean he dislikes critters at all. He likes many critters and people.

*Naia finds a nice patch of sunlight, yawns, stretches, and strikes a pose*

That explains a lot!

Squirrels were never worshipped but at I have seen my image halfway up a totem pole...

I guess it may be beneath Naia's sense of dignity to ascend this rock wall...

But cats, should they fall, always land on their dainty paws don't they, so why all this hesitation? Let Zandrian lead the way.

Alas! There are red dots in the reeds near the lakefront! Crouch and investigate like a huntress, Naia! I can see them from my vantage point off-shore. Quick! They are darting back and forth!

</ Water? Me? I would much rather see if squirrels can swim... />

They must be orbs!

Perhaps it's the sprites.

I'm not afraid of them, since I'm a military squirrel, not a common or garden one...
