I'll take the digital metronome, and plug the clock pulse it generates into a servo to control the angle. Then I'll alternate the frequency produced by the digital metronome so that the servo rotates back and forth, and attach a stick to that servo. Then I'll have the best of both worlds.

Neither. I bring my pet pelicans with me and load groceries into their beaks.
I've trained them to not swallow in 'bag mode'. I wish I could train them to not poop in the isles though.
