I had that same vacuuming noise when I used Arcsoft Media for Kodak then the software upgraded and it works fine now.

I finally have my own dusty-alloy-wheeled car back from the garage so I am

Glad you chaps doing fine and thanks for the advice. Tried the system rollback twice and yes, you guessed right.... wouldn't work. Waiting for an update.... maybe but I have a sense it will not change it.

What I do not understand is that I'm not the administrator on my own laptop.... what the heck. Plus also I cannot change or get rid of the program because it's part of windows, let's say, the whole thing.

*opens door to balcony, picks up laptop, tosses the s*cker over the railing*

*Crash*

(kids, don't do this at home please.... for I didn't actually do it myself.... of course)

Well, turned to p/m neutral again (being behind my good old desktop)

:)

How about going to the Task Manager, Processes tab and checking which process uses the most of CPU usage? Then stopping that process in Services or deleting it from start-up registry keys. :)

:D Yes, good thinking Batman! He can get to most of the start up stuff by typing MSCONFIG and selecting the various tabs. I go in there to kill Adobe which insists on adding itself to the startup registry keys after every time it updates itself.

Thanks - though actually I have some programmers at home and it's good to make them feel useful.

Thanks again for the hints.... tried the taskmaster, ending the process, first thing yesterday but bizarrely it starts itself again within the minute. Though eureka, of course, the MSCONFIG thing..

.. but, guess what?... Well?

:D

Well, it doesn't stop it either. Well, my hopes are, the high processor usage has to do with the program, the 'Media Center', building up a database of my pics, videos, music, etc.... and yeah that takes a while plus CPU usage also. (takes a bizarre long time though for I do not have much data yet)

:hopes:
