The ship jerks to one side as the air escapes the hangar which scares the last of the crew into escaping. Mike gets the ship rotating again so that there is gravity and then he suggests to Mason, "How about I attempt to ram them? I will try to make sure the bridge doesn't get damaged, and it will effect them more then it will effect us. They will either take a lot of damage or focus on evading us." Mason replies "Sounds like it could work well, as long as you are careful not to kill us all. It sure will be distracting." Meanwhile the enemy carrier begins shooting at the FSS Damocles and distant banging sounds can be heard as projectiles hit their target.
A message is sent back from the USS Hercules saying "Preparing to dock with Nexus station. Good luck going up against that carrier, capital ships are very hard to fly so you'll need it."
~Flashback~
-[2027]-
Mike was enthusiasticly preparing for his first flight into space. He had finished his flight training because he insisted on flying the mission himself. As he approached the spaceplane on the runway all he could think about was how fun it will be to float in zero G. He gets in the plane and goes through the takeoff checklist, and after that he activates the atmospheric engines causing the plane to begin moving down the runway.
Suddenly there is a very loud bang behind Mike and the cockpit is blasted forward by an explosion, flying forward violently and bouncing across the runway after breaking off of the spaceplane. Mike looses consciousness.
The next day, Mike wakes up in a hospital room and asks "Huh? Where am I? What happened?" and the nurse replies "You are in the hospital." He tries to sit up but something is wrong, he looks at his left arm to find that it was gone from below the elbow and wrapped in bandages. Oh no... Nonononono, I'm missing an arm. He quickly checks to make sure the rest of him is present and accounted for, and is relieved to find the rest of himself in tact. "What happened? Why am I missing an arm?" he asks, to which the nurse replies "Your spaceplane exploded on takeoff, best anyone can figure it was sabotaged. You are lucky to be alive." Mike thinks about it and decides to get the MegaWatt R&D department working on prosthetic limbs and implants. It will help a lot of people, myself included.
