Anything. Especially if you mention Swedish surströmming in the topic, the one dish not even a Finn can eat without puking up.

I wonder why people do these things. I mean, fair enough back in the old days when it was that or starve, but now? Why not just eat something nice?

Moomin. It must be something psychological. On my side, I have seen it all. Starving people, not a grain in their mouth to eat. To stay sane, I have to mock the past, I have to laugh.

Ah, psychological. Then that explains it. I still prefer not to eat those things though. Maybe I'm soft in that way, at least.

Please, let me add this.

When you shoot people, you grow hard. When you shoot animals, you grow soft. My father -- who was a World War II veteran -- had to shoot his horse who was pulling a cannon. It is the only time I ever saw tears in his eyes. Remember what I said about the dog in the gutter? I had tears in my eyes but I didn't stop to think about him, I just pulled the trigger. It was not easy.
