You Are 56% Cynical
Yes, you are cynical, but more than anything, you're a realist.
You see what's screwed up in the world, but you also take time to remember what's right.

Just because someone scored on the lower end does not mean they are faking. Everyone is different.

You're a full blown cynic... and probably even skeptical of these results.
You have your optimistic moments, but most likely you keep them to yourself.

Cynical? Not even close! If anything, you're a bit naive.
Overall, you enjoy life and try not to be paranoid. Even if you've been burned before.

I got 44%, and bloody hell was that test way off, they threw in alot of things that don't have alot to do with each other, or Cynicism for that matter.

"Typically, the modern cynic is greatly skeptical of social norms, especially those of a purpose more ritualistic than practical, and tend to question the validity of much popular belief, morality, and wisdom." - Wikipedia

So please, can anyone tell me what being a Secular Atheist has to do with being a Cynic? Because it seems to me, with my experience that I have garnered from actually visiting a Site (The person who made the test can't seem to differentiate between Sight and Site, or possibly just doesn't like Spellcheck) for Cynics, that they don't reject every single social norm they come across (Believe it or not).

It also occurs to me that the person who made the Blog thinks that Paranoia is just a much more severe case of Cynicism, which is way off because as we have established Cynicism is generally distrustfull of social norms, and Paranoia has to do with believing that everyone is out to get you.

I think it's pretty funny that a test about Cynicism was made on a popular site, and it completely missed the point of Cynicism, and that's not in a Ha-Ha way.

cyn·ic /ˈsɪnɪk/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[sin-ik] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. a person who believes that only selfishness motivates human actions and who disbelieves in or minimizes selfless acts or disinterested points of view.
3. a person who shows or expresses a bitterly or sneeringly cynical attitude.
–adjective
4. cynical.
cyn·i·cal /ˈsɪnɪkəl/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[sin-i-kuhl] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective
1. like or characteristic of a cynic; distrusting or disparaging the motives of others.
2. showing contempt for accepted standards of honesty or morality by one's actions, esp. by actions that exploit the scruples of others.
3. bitterly or sneeringly distrustful, contemptuous, or pessimistic.

I do not know where you got your definition of cynic from wikipedia. It does not seem to be there. The relationship between atheism and cynicism is simple and related to a distrust of the human institute of organized religion, which cynics being untrusting of the motives of others are more likely to think to be a sham, not only that but according to some of the definitions, cynicism is shown by a negative attitude in the first place which would more likely mean a complete distrust in any form of religion as simply a deception or untrue based upon the bad circumstances of the human condition.

Bitterly or sneeringly distrustful taken to an extreme would be somewhat paranoid, and thinking that others are simply selfish and willing to betray you at any given point would lead to paranoiac distrust so I do not think that the author of said test is necessarily wrong.

I think little to nothing on it, really, I am not sure of the absolute validity of your points against theirs. Not only that but popular test sites are not known for being supremely accurate.

20 percent cynical.

I don't follow horoscopes and believe motivational self-help gurus are a bunch of blowhards, but I am generally not cynical. I give people the benefit of the doubt most of the time.

Well to be honest, I'm no expert on the concept, I'm just telling you what I believe myself to have seen, and according to all the Cynics that I know it isn't about Religion. Are you sure you picked the right Dictionary? I mean they don't all give the same deffinitions.

If you don't trust most of the human race that doesn't mean you expect them to harm you (Paranoia), it just means you don't expect them to do the things they say they do.

Generally you give people the benefit of the doubt. But there are exceptions.
You buy into many of the things that mainstream society believes, but you're not anybody's fool.
