According to your self-report answers, your emotional intelligence is somewhat poor. People who score like you may at times feel that they have trouble dealing with their own emotions and those of others. They sometimes struggle to overcome difficulties in their lives and they are not always able to control their moods. It may be hard for them to understand how best to motivate themselves to overcome obstacles and reach their goals. In addition, they find social interactions difficult at times, for several reasons. They may have trouble allowing themselves to get close with others, finding it difficult to be vulnerable enough to establish intimacy or perhaps lacking understanding of, or comfort with, social interactions. Perhaps by working on your problem areas, you can become more confident in dealing with your own emotions and those of others.

I think that my openness and goal setting were weaknesses here. The latter is probably just nervousness.

I don't need to take a test to know how low I'd score on this.

101-highest so far, but still slightly below average. Could stand improvement.

I don't see this the same as a mental IQ test since it is measuring the thing that most aspies are actually rather poor at, not how talented or intellectually able etc. Hence my low score simply offers further support for my indeed having Aspergers..tho admittedly, it also offers support for my being totally socially dysfunctional

No big surprises there. I think I'm mostly in control of my emotions though. My Aspie score was 137 last time I took it I believe.

And, I think I did pretty well on the "how should someone feel" questions. I'm just such a wreck.

What is average on this quiz? 100 is regarded as average on an I.Q. test. I was over 100 by a whisker on the emotional intelligence test, but still scored below average.

I didn't even get past the first page before I got annoyed and gave up! For example, question 1) I panic when I have to face someone who's angry. Well, I don't panic...I get angry myself! I'm not afraid of them or the situation, and I'm usually able to remain civil, but I'd still be having a strong emotional reaction rather than remaining calm. However, I took their choice of the word "panic" to indicate that the person would try to avoid the conflict due to fear of confrontation. Not me. So I didn't know how to answer that one, and it just went downhill from there. I think we'll all score lower on these tests than NTs, because they're usually designed by NTs for NTs. I read that book Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman and found it annoying. It has a lot of solid psychological info in there that's always helpful for anyone. But beyond that, the general tone is one of generalized assumptions about how "humans" act and react in social situations, and I found much of it hard to relate to. Brings back memories of shouting at my sociology professor in college, because I couldn't buy all the stuff he was trying to claim was "true" about society and the way people relate. So now I know why I got a B in his class when my average grade was a 96! Maybe he and I would get along better now! :)

Unnamed,

I got through the test somehow, but I felt my eyes glaze over several times, especially with all the scenarios.
