Could someone help me? I keep having emotional breakdowns about once or twice a day, and I'm not sure how to stop myself from being overwhelmed. It's quite inconvenient. Maybe I need to help myself...I wish I knew how to stop calling myself nasty names or swearing at myself when I meltdown.

the first step to a useful action is to make the first step. :o [a tautology, admittedly]. start with a mantra, "i will be only GOOD to myself!" do it NOW. get into the habit of thinking that upon falling asleep at night and awaking in the morning. place a printed form of that mantra on your bathroom mirror, on your car steering wheel hub, on your computer workstation. say it out loud at every opportunity. It will eventually sink in. I live by that mantra. the second part is to learn to pre-identify the situations which are likely to cause meltdown, and avoid them as much as possible. I do it by being a hermit, YMMV.

I constantly berate myself, I've tried to stop but I just can't.
If I make the slightest error in anything my brain turns on me and I destroy myself.
I don't extend the same criticism to others though, which pisses me off as it means I treat strangers better than myself.
I've not idea how to stop it, but you are not alone.

I want to love myself...
Thanks for the advice, aunt! :) Mostly the things that make me meltdown are school-related, or that I get tired and feel like I need/want to change my life and find a cottage in nature somewhere, but then I feel sort of trapped. :| Oh well. Only three more months of high school!
Aww! You're so sweet! Thank you, Drawyer!

^Yay! I like the University I've picked out, and my mum helped me realize that I'm probably better at Philosophy than English since English is mostly about essays these days, and I am creative! *fireworks go off*

Cool. That's great, Kura. :)

And in these difficult times with spambots striking WP, remember the happy stuff! :D

I'm back in my cycle of emotional breakdowns again, but I'm hoping to change how things are at school so I can be happier. Any ideas, guys?

Do you get any accommodations from school? Maybe you can set up a plan that allows you to take a break whenever you feel stressed.

^That sounds nice. I'm so bad at advocating for myself and asking for help when I need it, but I'm trying. I guess I'll see what I can do.

You need Kierkegaard in your life. Trust me. I have been where you are now.
