Annoying people in general. But I guess that grinds everybody's gears.

People that get into my space.

Creepy people.

People with serious issues.

You know what really grinds my gears? People using the word "tipsy" to refer to being sort of drunk. NO! You are either sober or drunk. There is no in-between. You also can't use it as an excuse for your *drunk* friends to act the way they do. In my dictionary, the word "tipsy" doesn't exist. Plus, the sound of it just irritates the heck out of me. And that's what really grinds my gears.

People who use terms like "hillbilly" and "white trash" to describe people who aren't exceedingly wealthy.

People that support the destruction of Israel by promoting the "peace process" and give arms to terrorists
so that they can do this: click here

that the world remains silent when this happens but if one of these terrorists get killed because Israel is defending itself then the world screams at the top of their lungs. that is what grinds me gears.

April 2006:

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Amjad N Siddiqi and I am father of Hamza N Siddiqi. Hamza is a nine years old boy who was born with a number of health problems and disabilities including cleft lip and pellet, neurological abnormalities, late and delayed growth, artism, hyperactivism, cardiac problem. In 2003 South Huntington School District found a school in Berwyn, PA, after a long struggle. Hamza stayed in Melmark PA for well over two years but could not make a difference. In early 2005 Melmark school notified us and to the school district that they would not be able to serve Hamza any more because of his very complex health situation. It was not possible for them to keep him in the class with other students.

The school district started looking for an other school for him and it took over six months to get Hamza enrolled in JRC. JRC was very careful to take Hamza because of his cardiac condition. JRC wanted Hamza's Cardiologist to check every thing before allowing Hamza to join JRC. More over JRC's cardiologist was also involved in this process, after fully understanding the situation Hamza was permitted for admission to JRC.

JRC did not put Hamza on aversive treatment right away. They studied his behavior and then they put him on this treatment. After that we have noticed a great difference in his behavior. He is not dangerous to himself and to others any more, he listens and follow the instructions and his life is getting on the track. Me and wife Robina are hoping a reasonable future for him now. He is 9 years old, very soon he will be 10 and soon he will be 18. We are very concerned about him about his future and the days when we will not be around. We desperately want him to be at his own to some extent and JRC is a hope for us.

Recently this issue has become very hot. We hope that every one is trying to do good, but passing a law is absolutely not the solution. We strongly recommend that before doing any thing this program should be fully understood by every one involved. This wonderful and fruitful education program should not be eaten up by the media as food for news/stories. We request to the legislators to understand the benefits of this program before moving forward.

We also like raise this very important that what would happen to our child if this program would be stopped? Do you have an alternative program, where our child will get the same result he is getting from this program now? If you have an alternative program please send us the details. We are supporting JRC's program only because of the results we have seen, if you have an equivalently good or better program we will love to know about it and support it.

Looking forward for your prompt and positive response.

Thanks.

When people think I'm depressed from two sentences on a website. Come on, people, I skipped down the hall yesterday singing "So Long and Thanks For All the Fish". Just because I don't like myself doesn't mean I don't like myself to the point of depression.

Also, teachers who think I'm a Satanist. I'm barely religious at all, and me telling you a joke about how a really old song that I wrote sounds Satanist does not give you the right to ask me if demons tell me what to write!

April 2006:

To Whom It May Concern:

I am the parent of one of the children at the Judge Rotenberg Center.

I feel it is important to share with you the story of my son Steven. Steven was admitted to JRC just over three years ago. He is twenty-three years old and has Autism. Before going to JRC he was at the Devereux Kanner Center in Pennsylvania. Steven had been there since the age of fifteen. He was taking about six different medications at the time and was very self abusive. At times he was out of control, hitting, slapping, and punching himself. During some of my visits with him he would attack me. As you can imagine, this made it nearly impossible for me to spend any time with him. In the period of time that Steven was at this facility he not only became more abusive towards himself but also with others. He was thin and over medicated, bruised, beaten by other consumers (or so I was told) and he was constantly running away. Steven was truly unmanageable.

In February of 2003, Steven was admitted to JRC. After just six months I noticed a huge difference in my child. He had been weaned off of all psychotropic medications and he was no longer hitting himself. He looked healthier and happier than ever before. The care and supervision being offered by the staff at JRC is the best I have seen. Steven is now able to work consistently on tasks. My son’s self-abusive and aggressive behaviors are now under control. I have been able to spend time with my son and am able to bring him home for Christmas. His father and I are truly amazed.

I know that if Steven was not getting the GED treatment his quality of life would not be what it is today. Taking this treatment away from my son would certainly lead to a dramatic increase in his self-abusive behaviors. If that were to happen, I am confident Steven would severely injure himself. I am a true believer in JRC’s treatment approach as they have given my son a second chance. I believe it is a choice for parents to have their children at JRC and accept their treatment. It is not an easy decision to make, however, when your child’s health and well being are in jeopardy, what other choice is there? The aversive therapy is an option that should not be taken away. It is because of JRC and their treatment that my son is able to experience life.

Best Regards,

Maria Augusto

^ Maybe I'm just slow, but I don't understand what your 'letter' posts have to do with the topic?
