Dunno the red unuversal japo sportcoupe but

The first could be a Borgward! No, really. A south american firm had a bunch of new old stock Borgward 4 bangers from the late fifties. They bought an equal number of AMC Hornets sans engines and bolted together. New Borgies!

The Europa had (initially) a Renault R 16 drive package middie and due to odd rear styling was oft called a breadvan.

Thank you CA NES.

I drive a 2002 Chevrolet Tracker (Chevrozuki)

2.5 V6 - 60 degrees V, Aluminum alloy and liquid cooled. Twin overhead camshafts per bank with silent chain drive equipped with hydraulic tensioners, Four valves per cylinder with hydraulic lash adjustment, Distributorless ignition and multipoint fuel injection. Red line RPM is 6800. One HP per cubic inch. Torque is good below 1000 RPM.

4 speed automatic primary transmission with OD 4th and toeque converter lockup. May be held in any gear. Slushed shifts. Power or normal engine and trand computer control.

Secondary transmission is aluminum cased silent chain single lever shift on the fly part time two speed transfer case. Main drive axle is rear. Banjo type solid with open differential. Located with trailing links and Panhard rod, coil springs and telescopic shocks.

Front drive axle is frame mounted open diff in aluminum case with on the fly electric lock and unlock.

Front suspension McPherson struts with coil springs and an anti roll bar. Steering hydraulic noost rack and pinion.

Brakes are dual curcuit hydraulic with vacuum boost. Disc front. drum rear (I like a set of drums for off road as they are self energizing).

Separate body on frame construction.

A small 4WD mini SUV that averages near 26 actual MPG city - highway - dirt. I cruise at 65 MPH with autothrottle (cruise control) on. He drinks regulat just fine.

I can bore people to death aboout cars!

And I am a fifty four year olde woman!

the AMC Hornet was pretty boring under that exciting (?) skin.

Was typical unit body of pressed steel panels - welded. Has A arm independent front suspension with coils and telescopic shocks.

Reas was a sold axle on twin longitudinal multi leaf semi elliptic springs with telescopic shocks.

Disc and drum du curcuit brakes, power boost optional.

Recurculating ball steering - power optional.

Engine an iron inline six with two valves per cylinder and pushrods with hydraulic lash adjustment. I think 258 CID. Carburettor.

Stansard trans I think was a three on the tree three speed manual with column shift. Three speed autobox optional.

Slow and stodgey. But useful and cheap and tough.

Eagles were station wagons of this typw with fulltime four wheel drive.

The Lotus Europa is a different story entirely.

It was a typical for its time Lotus in structure. that means that is was one of the very few cars ever monocoque fiberglass!

It had a mid engine. Originally that meant Renault's inline four of cast iron with a single camshaft and pushrods. ut later came Lotus' "Big Valve" inline four. Still only two valves per cylinder, but large ones. This was a twin cam engine which I believe was developed by Lotus with Cosworth.

I think that while the front suspension was A arms with coils and telescopics, that "Chapman Strus" (a driven form of McPhersons) with coils was at the rear.

Snappy little car. Real Lotusy. Small and light. Fun. Wouldn't want to crash one though!

a subaru. Subaru means "Pleidies" in Japanese.

It has - I think - a four cylinder. Could be a six but I doubt it.

In any case it is flat, a boxormotur. Twin OHC per bank and 4 valver per cylinder. EFI of course.

The car is all wheel drive (that is all are driven but this is for street traction - not offroad) and engine is longitudinally mounted with a power flow direction change from trrans to diff.

Struts all around with coils. Monocoque steel body.

Discs all around with power assist. Power rack and pinion steering.

Decent car.
