Joan Crawford's grandson Chris has denied much/most of Christina Crawford's claims, especially that Joan's adopted twins were not twins.

He says that they managed to find their original family, that they are fraternal twins whose family simply could not take care of them and that they and the other children were legally adopted, which Christina has questioned.

She had also written that Joan had initially tried to adopt legally, but was deemed by the state to be 'unfit'.

This was true.

However.

What Christina did not say, or did not know/research, was that the state of California legally categorized ANY single woman as 'unfit to adopt'.

I just found this last night, while Internet-surfing.

Joan Rivers had died, one of the most well-known, successful women in show business, whose career lasted over 40 years.

She did stand-up, wrote for other comedians, had 2 (3?) T.V. Shows, wrote and acted in movies, and earned the respect of other comedians in a back-biting, competitive business.

She wrote 3 books and had her own jewelry line on QVC, which she personally presented, live, on the air.

She may have been the 'Hardest-working woman in show business' to paraphrase James Brown.

John Rhys-Davies, who plays Gimli the dwarf, is the tallest of the actors who play members of the Fellowship. He is 6' 1".

"The Lord of the Rings" trilogy

To add to Sylkat's post....

Joan Rivers wrote 12 books (I've got a couple----have read a couple more----TOO funny!!). She had 2 TV shows, and 2 Internet shows. She also had a line of clothing that she sold on QVC.

Twelve?

8O

Her husband Edgar committed suicide with prescription pills.

His last 'Goodbye' phone call was to their daughter, Melissa.

She blamed Joan for much of his unhappiness and refused to speak to her mother for about two years.

I am not sure, but I believe that either her wedding or the birth of her son is what brought the two of them back together.

I've been watching everything I could find the last couple of days, about Joan----including the one-hour special, on NBC. If I recall correctly, Joan and Melissa got back together when Melissa got beaten-up by her boyfriend at the time, and she called her mother from the Emergency Room, and told her she was in trouble.

Edgar died in 1987, I think; Melissa's marriage wasn't until the late 90s.

Haven't been able to find anything about Melissa Rivers being mistreated by a boyfriend, but I did find out that supposedly Edgar and Joan were separated at the time of his death, whether they were planning to divorce, I do not know.

Supposedly the Fox network wanted to fire Edgar from producing her show, and when Joan fought that decision, that is when/why she was fired/her show was cancelled.

She had her New York apartment/condo up for sale for $26 million a few years ago., but it did not sell.

A few days after her death, the place was supposedly valued at $35 million.

Yeah, I haven't been able to find-out anything about Melissa and the boyfriend story on the Internet, either (I was gonna put a link). I heard about it on one of those tribute shows.

Yeah, I heard they were seperated too. Joan had had a few affairs----also on one of those shows, I saw about her.

Are you gonna watch Melissa's tribute to her mother? I think I heard it airs on Friday night----I forget what channel----but it's on cable, and I don't have cable.

Yeah, I remember hearing about that a couple of years ago, when she did it. I don't think it's a hoax----at least, I never heard it was.

BTW, Melissa's tribute to her mother is on E! TV, at 8pm----I THINK I remember them saying that it was on at 8pm in California, too. Aren't you in Cali???

I read that Joan left $100,000 -$150,000 to her assistant to take care of her five dogs.

Seems to me that I heard she was buried next to Bogie in that famous celebrity graveyard, "Forest Lawn", in CA----but, I couldn't swear to it.

She had his cremated remains placed there, in a private area, but I cannot find anything official to indicate that she was even laid to rest on the West Coast.
