Alas, the bag also contains crickets for the laughing newkitty! There will be food, magic, superpower and Taniwha for days despite the fact Emily is fearful of water dragons. She hopes these shall not singe her feathers if she takes an evening swim. Jessie is confident that she can help Emily overcome these silly fears, so she asks her to practise telling the dragons why they scare her. It works, and helps her to feel better. Emily is learning to use her voice, just as Quackenbush is learning to relate comfortably in a group. She rebukes her drake gently for rebinding the Nietzschean tome on such a glorious eve as this, and invites him to perch upon the cragtop while they talk about their day. Sometimes, albeit infrequently, books can wait.

A Taniwha

The Taniwha is in my avatar! She uses her fiery breath to cook her favourite fishy snacks such as minnows and small perch.No raw sushi style for her!

She begins an aquatic dance for all of us. Her scales sparkle like spangles as she does figure eights round and round.

She adores all other creatures and invites them closer, even the shy Quacky.

Emily is amazed at the beauty of the Taniwha. She scarce knew that such a magnificent creature could exist!

Love the Taniwha. How many colors did you use. I lost count.

Jessie sees the Taniwha and is both entranced and jealous of its beauty.

Oh Taniwha taniwha won't you come play
Dance with your shimmering scales on display
Scatter your jewels to me on the shore
Can you fly? Can you leap? Come jump to my paw
I can pet you and pat you and make you my own

Emily has found this poster for a Halloween party at the former Brontë home. It was blowing in the wind, like dust from Kansas. Cautiously, she considers inviting all her Cats & Co. friends to attend. Perhaps we could hide out in the shadows together and watch the goings on? Taniwha can join too, to keep us safe from the untoward pressures of human society. It might even be fun to use our superpowers and invent costumes for such an affair. Maybe Naia has some ideas?

A party oh yes I love a party. I can dress as a princess! Maybe Taniwha will see how beautiful I am and fall under my spell.

Jessie's ego knows no bounds at times, let us hope it does not drive the others away! Wise Taniwha at least is staying a safe distance.

Zandrian fell asleep, lulled to lullaby land by the Taniwha's soft otherworldly singing.

He trusts the Taniwha to look after us all.

Isn't Jessie pretty enough as she is? No need to dress up... Maybe just a bonnet and bow.

I doubt Naia has dress sense, only food and sleep sense...

Naia manages to look very elegant, nevertheless.

Zandrian wants to know if all kittens are born princesses or princes.

Lightning crackles overhead as a dark, swirling vortex takes form. A sharp howling is heard, interrupted only by shrieks and hisses -- those fluent in chattan hear know it to be a string of curses not meant for human ears. Suddenly, a dark shape falls from the vortex and strikes the ground with a sickening thud, and with a final "KRAKADOOM!", the vortex disappears.

Naia lays there, very still. One eye opens slowly as she gasps for breath.
